Anyways, reading your old post, it seems you need 16 crons to count up to 16. Well, my method only needs n+1 crons for n-bit numbers (5 crons to count up to 15). With that information, perhaps Aprosenf's approach wouldn't be the only one that stands a chance of working? Haven't had time to think deep about it.
I shall pursue the Ship Hanger challenge if it's still not closed by... March 2004.

I never close these, they just become so overdone that there's no point anymore, or there is no way to do them in a different enough way to get a prize out of it. Every challenge is still open, but the Critical Hit! one has probably reached its limit of newness.
I doubt anyone will have reached that limit by March, and I doubt anyone will have even completed it successfully by then (unless they've been working on it a lot, and just haven't said anything).

What you can do (I did it) is this: In flight decision of upgrading a ship. enter a shipyard to get a confirmation and the upgrade.

Ah, but did you make it capable of selling, releasing, and upgrading? Selling alone requires two mïsn resources. I still haven't figured out how to do the daily cost. I'm thinking cröns, though.
Another question: How does Nova calculate the cost per day for escorts? I think EVC and EVO used 1% of the ship price, but Nova doen't even use pixels for the map anymore, so I can't assume that it's the same.
You can do it while landed.

Twenty seconds of experimenting reveals that it is the same for Nova.

EDIT: Got it! All I have to do is have it cost you X creditswhen it ends, and I'm all set for the costing per day!

Sorry about all the questions, but given my current situation, starting up Nova is a serious nuisance.
Anyhow, this one has to do with the engine's functioning, not in-game escort stuff. When you set a crön to have a duration of one day and a Post HoldOff of 1, does it repeat the event, or just the OnEnd stuff? If the latter, then it is entirely possible to simulate costing per day.
Another one: Is using the Sxxx operator the same as accepting a mission?

Maybe you should think about ranks ? They've a daily salary field. Maybe you can put a negative value in...

Whoa! I just tried it...negative salaries work! Even better, it says "Expenses: X" instead of "Salary: -X"! Now that's an unlisted feature if there ever was one!
That shouldn't be too surprising. When you hire escorts the normal way, their daily expenses show up in the player info dialog, so it would have been pretty hard for a bug of the sort "Salary: -X" to fall through the cracks.

I'm talking about salaries, thoughas in, through ränks. Unfortunately, I can't have a -take away credits field for the "take away player's credits at start" payment type in a mission to give the player credits, so they have to land on a spöb. Meh.
EDIT: Okay, they can't land on any spob—I have to use a rank. But the rank should only be active for one day, so I need to use a cron to deactivate it!
mrxak, I think you underestimated how many resources this would take...
