Is there any way I can edit the sound files? I tried opening it in Mission Computer X, but it doesn't work there. And I don't have Novatools, cause I don't have ResEdit, cause I don't have mac os 9. Is there any other way I can edit it?
NovaTools doesn't have the capability to edit sounds anyways.
Anyhow, you'll need a real sound editing app - there's one called SoundEffects that's pretty good, but it's a Classic app. Try Googling one. If it supports System 7 Sounds, it supports snd resources.
Well, unfortunately, unless you can find a way to copy sounds (specifically in System 7 Sound format) into the resource fork of those files, there's no way that I know of that you put any sounds that you edit/create into a plug-in.
In other words, you need ResEdit.
Sure there's a way. I'm attaching a file to...'hack' MissionComputer so that it can copy/paste 'snd ' resources. Just control-click on MC, then select 'Show Package Contents'. Open the 'Contents' folder, followed by the 'PlugIns' folder, then put the attached file in there. You should see 'snd ' in the list now.
Note: Change the file's extension from .txt to .rdl - if you have to, Get Info on it and change it there.

Also, some sound editors can directly save sounds in the resource fork of your plug. And this hack to MC isn't the only way, as it simply comes down to copying a resource from one file to another. You could use a basic OSX resource editor, for instance.
Thanks orcaloverbri9, Zacha and Firebird.
Just a note: while I'm glad to see someone using the extensibility features I put into MissionComputer, it can actually copy any resource type between two files without this script; just use the Resource Copier tool (it's right in the menu bar), and open the two files. It works on any file type, and can even copy many resources at a time in bulk.

Hmm. Never knew that.
Out of curiosity, did you use RB's built-in XML stuff for this?
ZP: Indeed, but I was providing a way for him to do it without needing a new editor. I know how troublesome it can be to download something when it's not necessary, just helpful.

Sure thing, I was just informing him. On a side note, I know that, if I wasn't able to reliably run ResEdit (i.e. if I had Panther where Classic runs slow as hell), I would instantly investigate and download a general resource editor, and pay its registration fee if there is any: I can no longer live without one (and MC or EVONE do not allow me to edit and move all kind of resources).

Heh, sorry I didn't actually provide any help.
But I feel way behind the times now -- this extensibility of MissionComputer is so sweet...I wonder if there's a way to pull together DITLs and DLOGs for messing around with the dialog boxes...
