NovaTools: EnRLE

Just to make it clear, I have used the search function for my problem, but to no avail (Did I spell that right?).

If someone has the time, could they please give me an extremely detailed description of how to go from a file like sol.jpg (single stellar) to sol.rlëD and sol.rlë8 using NovaTools and EnRLE. Please be as specific as possible.

Well, you start by reading the readme....

I haven't used EnRLE in a while, but I'm fairly sure that you drop the image file on EnRLE and follow all the steps. But I'm not sure. The image file might have to be in .pict format.

I read the readme and tried it out before I posted here. I'm still stumped.

The way I've used EnRLE, you need the pic in pict format in the resource fork of the plug (what you edit with NovaTools). This can be done by opening it in a graphics editor (Photoshop, for example) and copying it into the plug. You also need a spïn resource, so EnRLE knows how you want the sprite set up. At this point, the plug will work (using PICT instead of RLE), but you should EnRLE it (drop it on EnRLE) so it will work with Windows and be nice in general. You'll need to copy the rleD and rle8 resources into the plug, but then you'll be done.

This isn't very detailed, but if you need more help someone will expand on this.

Do NOT use JPEG, even as an intermediate step. It is not lossless compression, meaning you will have arctifacts, that are particularly nasty with the mask.
