ok... i searched the board for it, but could not find it. so here it goes:
im trying to make a plug for EVN that does some sound tweaks and explosion graphic changes. the problem is, the images i would like to use for explosions are in animated gif form, while EVN handles all animations in layed-out bmp form (NOTE: im using WINDOWS XP). is there any way i can convert the gif into that "nova form" without hand-drawing each frame several times over?

Try Macromedia's Fireworks tool.

trying... trying.... trying....
can't do it! what's the tool that does the process?
Image ready should also have no trouble with the process, if you have it. Just import it, and export as a a serries of BMPs. To uget it into a matrix, either do it in photoshop, or ocnvert to a viedo. Joe

thanks a lot. on the side note, how was the EVN ship graphics processed during development? was it done by a 3D program, converted to gif, and then to bmp? or was it something else?
On the Mac, we've got this handy tool called m2s (p2s, part of the same package, works basically the same way) that automatically converts a movie (in .mov form) to a laid-out PICT sprite. From that, we use EnRLE to convert the sprite into RLE format, which is what Nova uses. So, basically, we render the image as a movie in the 3d prog, run it through these two utils, and it's done.
