Merging with ResEdit

I recently made a level based on Level 22: Labryinth. I want to make another level based on Level 22. Aschaaf mentioned merging levels with ResEdit, I know how to do this, but can I renumber levels while merging?

Yes. In ResEdit, hitting Command-I will bring up info, the ID is the same in MASCOT and Ferazel's Wand.

Yes, you silly idiot, just click Unique ID when you paste the level in. Then pick an unused number under 100. What a fool. 😉

Why are you doing that?
Why not just make a new level, and paste the level info from the Labyrinth?

Just to clarify, I was insulting myself, not those who were kind enought answer. Aschaaf: Cause that's the way I've always done it. But now that I have more experience Merging levels, I will have no trouble what so ever.

Also, I never used BG Maps, Xichron Maps, or Light Maps. Do any of them work?

I don't see how a BG map would work. But yes, lightmaps work. Not so sure about Xichron maps though.

Lightmaps are for controlling the amount of light in your level. Xichron and BG maps don't work period.

Not to put myself out there, but I use Ent's method of level creation, I simply copy a level with similar setting and size and then fine tune it, maybe you OBW people have been spending too much time with your (collective) head in the info box 😉

Dr. Tall: Maybe you misundestood me. I open a duplicated file of Ferazel's Wand World File. Then I delete everything from the level I desire, tiles, spirtes, xichrons, everything. Then I paste in my new FG Map and get working. I just never used copy/paste level info. Now I am going to do more merging with ResEdit. It's a shame, though. Life would be so much easier with BG and Xichron maps. :frown:

Emeror Ent, I would have been able to help but I don't have theResEdit or MASCOT. :frown:

Oh, no! Duplicating the entire world file? That must be a hard merger, what with conversations, map data, everything. ::shudders::

Easily fixed! MASCOT is freely downloadable by anyone with a vowel in their name. As for ResEdit, check the FAQs:
