Though I hate to participate in thread hijacking, I feel i ought to point out what was said by my Calc 1 professor about grading. He said that usually when he looked at all the grades, they formed about 3 groups (not including the failers)- the people who were barely making it through (they get Cs), some people who fell in the middle (the Bs) and the people who came out in the high 90s (The As) He indicated that, were one to graph them, there would be distinct gaps between the groups.
BTW, my Calc III class is averaging a C. A buncha people I know in that class are failing. I think I missed an A by like half a % point in that class (If only I'd been able to solve for alpha in that problem on the third exam!), but i wont know till grades are released - he may have bumped my grade up to an A so that there was more than one or two A's (rumor has it he got a lot of flak from the administration for failing 70% of his A term Diff Eq class)
I DO think that grade inflation does occur. In my chem class I dont do the homework and dont pass in a notebook, and still get A's -Az

However, you have to admit, that upon being asked to do something that is innapropriate OR hard to understand (tell me what the hell he said in the first place, I still can't really get what he means), you would either reply with a rebuke, or ask for clarification and give advice. Upon not understanding, and being slightly offended by what seemed like a very disrespectful way of asking for what is a big favour, most of us replied asking for both clarification and giving advice on what can be improved upon in the future.
But, I will admit, it was sometimes a little too harsh.

Yeah, I would criticize him for making such a large request. But not after so many people had done it and I wouldn't be criticizing him grammar since there have been sufficient posts doing that.
But I think we've come to a sort of agreement here about this.

well, they're both AP classes, preparing for the same test. Stop being so arrogent about your class. Believe it or not, there are people with the same intelligence or smarter than you around. And there are people who take classes that are just as hard or harder. I'm not saying I'm nessesarily one of them, but I could be - you don't know, so don't assume.

Just because they're AP classes doesn't say much. The teaching level is highly varied. Not to mention class standards and the enrichment that your class have. In addition, the difficulty of the test is also varied. Unless your AP Calc class gets straight 5's on the AP test pretty much every year, I think there's a disparity. I'm not being arrogant about my class. And the chance of you taking as hard of classes as me is in ~36 out of the high school population in the US.
my school is one of the best public schools in the country. In some ways it's almost a private school, in that lots of people pay tution just to go there, if they can't buy a house in the district. People in the AP Calc classes get the range of grades from D to A (if you get an F, you definetly shouldn't be in the class), and most people get 5's and some 4's. Our AP Physics class is pretty much a guaranteed 5 on the AP. Most of the AP World, Psych, Bio, and Chem people get 4's or 5's. People who 3's or lower only have themselves to blame, they're the people who don't work as hard. The teaching and the classes are excellent.

So what school do you go to? And what's your schedule? BTW, you never pay tuition to go a public school (at least at the high school level) unless you classify purchasing a house within the district as tuitition. In which case, the premium to get into my school is around 200-400k. Over Silicon Valley housing prices. Our classes get straight 5's with a very small number of 4's (read, 3 or 4 at most out of 80 students in most AP's) Interesting that your school offers so few AP's. I think your liberal arts department could be a bit more stringent though.

By tuition he means that some public schools will allow students from other districts attend. But they must pay a tuition, as if it were a private school. Those who are in the district will not play any tuition.

well, I only listed the AP classes that I have information about. We've got Human Geo (I'm pretty sure everyone gets 5's in that, it's the easiest AP), Art, English, Physics, Calc AB, Calc BC, Psych, Bio, Chem, and Stat - plus all the languages. I think that's it. We aren't a huge school - about 900 students total. I'd rather not say what school I go to. I just don't give that info out, sorry. We allow anyone to take AP classes, if they think they can handle it, so sometimes people come up from non-honors classes, and that lowers the average grade.
I'd have to say that you're wrong about never paying tution. I know a lot of people who pay tution. One of my best friends does. If you don't live in the district, you can pay tution to go to that school. At least here you can (I live in the Midwest).
What do you mean by our schedule? Daily or yearly?

As in your class schedule. ie, what classes you're taking. Refusing to give out your school info is such a nice way to get out of this, eh?
I guess I'm too used to the bureaucratic system in California where you can only go to school in your district. Unless you get expelled and re-assigned. BTW, somehow I don't think that one of the best schools in the country would be in the Midwest. Not to mention, if your school has that distinct advantage given that we have to take what we get from our city and nowhere else but yet somehow I think we still perform better on AP's.
I never give out my personal information on the net.
Yeah, you wouldn't think that we'd have great schools out here would you? My family moved us out here from California (San Franscisco - couldn't find any good schools that weren't outrageously expensive) for the schools. But lots of people who never thought that they would live here do because of our school district. It's not cool to judge our school just because of where it is. It's not out in the boonies. We have cities here you know, it's not just hicks with trucks.
My schedule: Adv. Comp (non honors, and so the worst class on my schedule. I guess I'm not used to that crowd, the class drives me insane. ) AP Psych AP Art AP Chem AP Calc Indep. Study Latin Graphics Editor for our school newspaper (which wins national awards every year)
Thanks for helping me out there Klepsacovic. Just so you know though, I'm a girl.

I used to take regular level Spanish, full of dumb people. The teacher recently quit due to personal problems. You're welcome. I didn't realise I was helpful enough for a full thank you. I should remember that, I probably keep calling people him or he when I shouldn't.
What was the original point of this thread? It's been so long since there was a point... (Edit) Oh right, the ship. Zaku, fix your e-mail, I tried to send it to you, but you don't accept attachments.

this program should be for pc and i want to find out how to make plugs graphics and all i hqave photo shop and evnew thats about it and my mom wants to find out a whay of helping me with these i told her to read the evnova bible and im using nova so thanks for all the halp you guys and if someone is willing to teach me make a topic called how to make a plug and let people come to find out how. signed by Zaku

On topic please. I'll be watching this topic
Zaku - Please learn how to use the shift key, the comma, and the full stop (the period for those Americans). It makes things far easier to read, and frankly I could use both when I was in primary school. I'll let you get away with spelling mistakes if you're using Windows And the letter 'I' should always be capitalised. You're not on IRC or an IM service, so I expect that you're able to check the post before you post it, it's not a race.
Everyone else - Lay off the grammar topic. This is the Developers Corner, not the Grammar Whore's Forum. Expect topics to be deleted if you're not on topic...

From what I've gleaned from Zaku's posts, this seems to fall under the category of 'extenuating circumstances'. I'd be willing to help, but I can't model to save my life. And if you understand what I'm talking about when I say 'extenuating', well...more power to you ;).
Zaku, if you want to make ships, you need a 3D graphics program. Basically, a 3D graphics program allows you to make shapes and objects that are expressed as 3D objects rather than just a flat 2D painting. Strata and Lightwave are good modeling programs, but they cost money. Bryce is easy to use, but is for mostly landscapes. OpenFX and Wings 3D, as well as Blender, are free and for PC, but they're hard to learn.
If you have a 3D program, Photoshop, and EVNEW, you're pretty much good to go :). Remember, any specific questions should be directed to the Dev Corner and typed legibly.

It would sound to me that he is looking for a Nova specific graphics editing program, and frankly none exist. Furthermore, the Nova bible says nothing about pict making, it only deals with adding them to your plug. I remember looking for that kind of a program at his age...
I'd also like to complement you on your persistance and invulnerability to our nagging, not many people can keep up with that and not get upset.
Now, about that plug topic...

That might make sense So, here's an explanation for him.
In EV you normally make your ships as 3D models in a program such as Strata, Cinema4D, anything like that. You create an animation that spins it around in 36 frames, ending up 10° before it started, render the animation and convert it to a sprite map.
It's not easy, and it is time consuming. I think these days you have things to automate it
Anyway, that's how it all works. We are here to help, but we do like coherency from posters
any whay i kmy be able to buy a grahics program tell me witch you think is easyest to use and where to buy it now i still need a teacher for EVNEW
