I picked two sound from Ares to use in an EVC plugin. I set the weapon sounds and Id's right but when I fire the weapon no sound plays. What am I doing wrong? Do I need other sounds? is it some sort of incompatability?

What program are you using to make the plug?

Res Edit.
Does the sound play properly when you choose Try Sound from the snd menu?

Yup.
What is the sound ID and what have you entered in the sound field of your weapon?

Sound Id 200, sound field filled with sound zero. I changed nothing but the the sound itself. those are the same id's and numbers that were in the data resorces.
Is there other stuff in your plug that is loading and working properly? Do you have any other plugs that may be conflicting?

Everything else works, aside from bugs in the fields. Unlesst the Tuner could be conflicting, no.
Hmm. Unless you've turned the sound off and forgotten or the sound resource is too long for EV to handle then I don't know what the problem might be. You could try replacing it with some other sound and see if that works.
If there's nothing but a vers resource in the Tuner plug I think you can safely delete it. I believe it is left over from early update methods where all the new graphics went into the Tuner. Newer updates put the graphics straight in the Graphics file but still came with a blank Tuner plug to overwrite the old one.

the sounds certainly arent to long because I got loooong sounds from nova to work in another plugin. speaking of nova sounds, I think I'll just use some of those anyway. They are made for EV.
I think that the tuner was provided so that we could make our own plugs from it. Without the tuner the first EV plug developers could never have made plugins.
You say you're making the plug for EVC? Sounds must be 11 KHz (and mono, I think) or they won't play in-game. EVN does not have this limitation, I believe.

It makes sense that the sounds from Ares might not be that way. Oh well, I'll see if I can rip something from Nova. This plug a Micro TC and is due today so I don't have much time.
Just download (url="http://"http://www.spies.com/~franke/SoundApp/")SoundApp(/url) and convert your file to what you need.

Cool, then I won't have to use those boring old laser sounds. Of course, I don't think I can finnish before tommorow even so.
