I was wondering if SpacePirate can have your permission to port your Empire Plugs into EVN Plugs to smooth out the SpacePort Application?
Sure, if you like. All seven of my EV plug-ins and each of their most recent updates can be found at my homepage. As for "Heart Of Darkness", I believe that is being ported to NOVA by MacDevil though he may have dropped the project as I have not heard from him in several months. The original "Empire" was recently updated to EVO and should be available for download from Ambrosia's EVO site.
And what have you been working on for Nova?
At the moment, nothing. I was going to try a few ports of my own EV plugs but my computer has troubles running EVONE so I abandoned the project. Eventually I will begin work on either "Metal Empire" or "Fearful Symmetry" but at the moment my time is limited.
Thank you for your interest in my work.

I really, really want to release it as one combined plugin.

I believe that Mr. Turner should have the right to visit the Developer's Corner without being molested from all directions by people begging him for the nth time to release his FH/FF ports as soon as possible , and that he, being the developer and holder of the intellectual property rights concerning said projects, holds the right to release his work whenever he wants, whether that time be tomorrow, next week, next year, or next millennium.

I was being facetious. While I loved the Frozen Heart and loved Femme Fatale even more (except for the bloody no-point 20-jump-into-the-void systems), he IS the developer as you stated and has the right to release it whenever he wants (if at all.) I would certainly like to see it sooner, but it would also be excellent to get the whole package at once.
All taken in the spirit it was meant.

Okay, so here we are with two suggested options. Either Empire: War Without End , or F-25 2.0. I've never played either, but I need to know if anyone here has played them, or is willing to play them. A major part of this project relies on you all to report the incongruities between a ported and original game, so this is essential.
Or, are there any further suggestions? ~ SpacePirate

**I'd imagine the only incongruities in F-25 2.0 would be a few bugs here and there. But if theres enough interest in porting it, I'd be willing to give it a run through and try to to iron them out. The only reason I never did was because of lack of time and interest for EVO...

I haven't tried either one either, and both interest me quite a bit -- they look like well thought-out adventures! The time I have available for this isn't copious right now, but I'll be glad to do what I can, all the same. I guess I'd lean towards F-25, but only slightly.
If playtesters are what you want in the end, should you post the question over on the Override board?

Bomb, if we do indeed to choose your groups TC, and if your graphics guy still has the models and is willing to do an update, we could add those in as it is completed as well...

SpacePirate, you need to contact Bomb as he has v2.1. I was one of the playtester for F-25V2.1.

**First off, there is no 'group' per se. I did all of the writing/programming. The graphics, on the other hand, would be absolutely impossible to overhaul with the current models, given that the graphical system of F-25 is piecemeal, at best. The newer version has about %60 free graphics (from Matt Dailey, primarily), %35 WeepulBuilt graphics (the smaller races) and about %5 done by me. Even the models that one would think I'd have access to (i.e the ones I did) are long since lost (keeping in mind that graphical work on that version has been done for about two years now). Therefore, if you were considering making all of F-25's graphics work to EVN's capacity (and I'm assuming you are) they'd all have to be re-done.
Now mind you, F-25 doesn't introduce a terrible amount of new ships (something like 20 or somewhere in that region) but still, they'd take some time to re-model and render. That said, the designs are by no means complex or challenging, so I'd imagine any talented graphics developer would have a relatively easy time putting them together.
As I've said before, F-25 given EVN treatment would be bloody spectacular. I'd have no problem doing all or some of the leg work in terms of fixing up bugs and such, so long as another dedicated person was working on the graphical bits.

Replacing the graphics isn't neccessary to test SpacePirate's porting program. It would be nice, obviously, but my own preference would be to see the port released as soon as it all works to the standard set by its performance in EVO -- in other words, if new graphics aren't ready at that time, they come out later as an add-on plug or as the central improvement in the next version of F-25.
I just cracked open the F-25 Graphics file, by the way, and I see there are some pretty cool ships by EVO standards, and that a fair number of graphics already use more than 256 colors per pict and therefore are going to look at least a smidgen better in Nova than in Override, even if they aren't re-rendered with banking, 3/4 views, etc. There are quick things that can be done in an image editor to reduce pixelation, too, or to add shields, engine glows, lights, or weapon effects. Again, the results won't be as grand as all-new Nova sprites, but that won't stop me from playing! Bomb's plug is emerging as the top pick for SpacePirate's project because of the quality of the scenario and storylines, and that's draw enough for me.
(Edit: Nothing here should be taken as suggesting that it wouldn't be stunningly fantastic to have (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/webboard/Forum56/HTML/001546-2.html")pipeline(/url) eventually produce new F-25 graphics, of course!)
