Is it possable to make a weapon to slow down time. It would freeze time for other ships and the player would still be able to move. It would be really cool if this worked. Maybe you could do it with a weapon that just adds ionization to every ship in the system but yours. I'm posting this because I think that this would be a really cool thing to put into Nova.

I think that the only way to do this is with the ionization. I don't know much about Nova plugin data and stuff, but I'm not sure if this is possible/easy.

Ionization could have the desired effect, but the weapon would have to hit every individual ship in the system. I'm pretty sure blast radius damage doesn't include ionization.

I dunno... Let's try it, shall we?
Well, blast radius doesn't effect ionization.
I can't get it to work with randomly scattering submunitions (which would work sketchy at best).
I don't see how it is possible.
------------------ When viewing a Terrapin for the first time, I realized that anything flies-if you throw it hard enough!
submunitions will work, but will not have a very good probability of hitting any ships more than 1000 pixels away. because blast radius doesn't work, you will have to score a direct hit. the only way to do this is to have a rapid fire weapon that uses 3 types of submunitions, and still the effect won't be perfect. anyways here is how to go about it the first weapon will have a reload of 30, and expires on the first frame to launch submunitions, the first set of submunitions should be 12 unguided rounds that head off at high speed with a accuracy of 180 (the shots will fire in all directions randomly) flag them to ignore asteroids, and have no proximity radius. make it so that once they travel about 1000 pixels, they submunition again. this time becoming 8 homing weapons each, they should be made to travel fast (speed 1600) and have a extremely high turn rate, as well as a lifespan of 100. they should create heavy ionization, and be flagged to pass over asteroids, and to track any ship that gets in the way. bast radius and proximity radius should be set to 0 because it won't do anything with ionization. there is no garuntee that it will hit every ship in the system, in fact it is more than likely that it won't. however, if you tinker with the lifespan of the final set of submunitins, and fire them repeatedly, you should eventually succeed in ionizing all the ships. (set the ionization color to black if you don't want the ionization to be visible.
good luck

Or, you could just be lazy and create a "time-freeze beam". In effect, an ionization beam.
It's not the most techy-techy solution, but your chances of hitting anything with a submunition aren't much greater than winning the lottery, and simply spinning in place to freeze every ship in the system is much more effective and accurate.

the final set of submunitions will home in on the nearest ships to their flight path, effectively hitting most if not all of their targets.
a beam would be eclipsed by any sips it hits, if there is a ship behind another ship that ship will not be effected.
instead of spinning in place with a beam, the best solution in that case is to give it a lifetime and reload of 1, and an innacuracy of 180, effectively causing it to fire in all directions without turning your ship.
if you want me to MAKE you a submunition ionizing plug for you to prove my point i will be able to do so.
so email me if you want me to make you one.

It will in 1.0.8, according to mcb it "has been" changed by popular demand. Note the past tense! -Az

No, that's okay, Cunjo. I don't want you to "MAKE" me a submunition ionizing plugin.
It may work, it may not. Lots of things in Nova that make sense don't work properly and things that don't make any sense whatsoever make perfect sense.
Have you tested the concept yourself?
I think the officially sanctioned method of implementing bullet-time in EV Nova is with extremely long dëscs rendered in 9 point black-on-white type.

it is already made... having a bit of a problem with weapon graphics though.
EDIT: okay, it works, but the shots aren't invisible. if you want them to be you will have to change it youself. it won't hit all the ships on the first shot, but hold down the fire key for 5 seconds and it should get them all. (you can change the name and ionization color yourself, i didn't add descriptions because i think you would rather do it yourself.) email me for it.

Thanks for all the imput guys.

Honestly, if you have nothing helpful to say, don't say it. If you have never made an EVN plug, don't try to give advide about them.

Lighten up. It's not as if he's wrong.
no kidding, i just put together a plugin that in effect did that, and ionization is exactly what i used.
