charge up weapons

I was wondering if it was possible to make a secondary fire weapon that needs to charge up before firing. If it was primary fire all that I can think of is that weap 1 fires, does no damage, and doesn't allow other weapons to fire. Then after weap 1 finishes its burst and goes into burst reload, weap 2 fires. I don't know if you can do that with secondary fire though...

Well, if you're looking for a weapon that won't let anything anything else fire until it goes into burst reload, just set the "weapon is exclusive" flag.

I have tried to think of how to do this too. I havnt found any ways to do so, especially with a secondary weapon. I also think that exclusive weapons exclude even during thier burst reload, though I havnt tested this.

The Nova Bible says it excludes everything while firing and reloading. I'm not sure if this includes the burst reload or not. At the very least, it allows you to use weapons when it is reloaded and waiting to be fired.

Course, if it's a primary weapon, as soon as this occurs, it will fire, and start reloading again. I will use this in my TC to simulate malfunctioning weapons.

Dude, this is way too easy. Use the "ship unfolds to fire" flag. In fact, this would be really cool, because when you stop firing, it would power down. Look at the asteroid miner for an example.

You could do it using submunitions. Make the initial weapon fire an invisible shot with 0 speed with a lifetime of however long you want the delay to be, and then have it submunition into the real weapon. Of course, the problem with this is that if you fire and then turn or move, the shot won't appear to come from the right place.

The combination of fade-out and sound on the CPL make it look like it has a charge up effect, but it doesnt. The GBB propably adds to this impression.
