I'm working on a small plug* at the moment, and I've noticed that Radar missiles do more Mass and Energy damage than their IR counterparts. Is there a reason for this, since in-game they seem to be billed as the two roughly-as-useful midrange missiles? It almost seems unfair for Radars to be more effective, since they also have a disable-only variant (an Auroran outfit, I suppose).
Is there a reason why they shouldn't be?
Game-wise I think they are larger, so they should pack more of a punch.

Um, it's always been that way. Radar missiles are just more powerful. And as a side effect, the launchers are heavier and the missiles are more expensive. You get what you pay for, after all. And if I'm not mistaken, the dëscs mention this as well.

A larger, more expensive guidence system (especoially if it is an active radar system) generally preempts a larger, more powerful warhead. Though, in my oppinion, missles should cost more, be more dificult to carry, and do far more damage, and be far harder to evade (and deploy). Joe
