Topic says it all - am i right here, or am i stupid? -Az, who wishes it did work so he could make oufit descs describe what other outfits they needed in order to work without having to have the outfits flip bits, which of course is unreliable.

Nope. Doesn't work. you can only test bits, gender and payment status. Oh, and don't try nesting any of those, that doesn't work either.

Life's a bitch and then you die, Az
The limitations vs. the potential of the changeable desc text has consistently frustrated me as well... I know your pain acutely.

granted, nova has enough NCB's to sink a battleship, so the full potential is possible just a pain in one's hindquarters. Something you might like for SS: Have like 8 crons and 32 mission bits (to pick powers of two). Have each of the crons toggle a random selection of those bits in both onstart and onend (different bits), have like 3-5% chance per day, and a couple days of duration and a couple days of holdoff. Then direct your writers that those 32 bits are essentially in a random state at any time, and that they can use them to make random choices between texts. Or you could have it so that at any time a single random bit out of 4 or so was set, letting one have 4 or so different descs for something. -Az

If I haven't mentioned it before, I like the way your mind works, Az- I did try doing something similar a ways back using 1 cron and some nested R()'s. It didn't work, and I haven't thought about it since...
This'll be put on the list.

There are ways of getting around that though. Just put a few next to each other.

That works in some cases, true, mrxak. However, nested {bxxx ""} calls would allow if-then, multiple bit tests in descs. And without nesting, it is very difficult, if not impossible, to correctly do bit-sensitive and gender-sensitive. Consider this: {bxxx "Im a guy looking for a" "Blorch"}{G "woman" "man"}{bxxx "with a certain something" "Double blorch"}. Obviously, this is a bad and exagerated example, but this kind of situation is ridiculously common, I've found from experience.
