I don't know how long this has been going on, but if you have Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Page Maker, Freehand or Xpress, and a Mac, they are selling a full copy of Lightwave for half off. I know that the software's high price is prohibitive to many people, so I thought that this might intrest someone. I am not sure if it includes the upgrade to 8.0 though. Joe

Last time I heard (read: a long time ago), Loghtwave was $2000. ATMOS used it to make NOVA originally.
(Fun thing to do: Search the Override boards for "Nova", and you get all of this archived shizzle from the pre-ev3 engine stage of NOVA. Good stuff)

Lightwave costs $1250 for a commercial license, and $395 for the educational version. The educational is full-featured, but you're not supposed to be making money off it (i.e. it is not a low-cost solution for a studio, etc.). Should you want to upgrade to a commercial-legal version, it's an additional $495, which makes the edu-to-comm path cheaper than buying the whole thing outright. It pays to learn the program on the cheap, I guess.
If you are a US student and resident, kindergarten through college, you qualify for the student discount over at (url="http://"http://www.academicsuperstore.com")www.academicsuperstore.com(/url) and likely myriad other outlets. That's where I bought my copy, and I've never regretted it.
