mrxak, do I have to teach everyone how to make a seventh escort with a mission (+ abording and upgrading, of course), or is there anybody who already sent you a plug ?

I believe that the seventh escort plug-in was a challange that nobody bothered to meat.

And I totally couldn't figure out how to do the critical hit stuff. Oh well. Maybe if I just keep on watching these I'll learn more tricks... Makes me feel small thinking that you guys all did it in less then five minutes... v.v

Escort Number Seven has not been completed by anyone yet. No attempts.

As for Masamune's question about the ship garage which I apparently missed when I read his post, it would be better than nothing to turn in a two-ship/two-outfit plug, but it would be nicer with 4 outfits, and maybe 3 ships, just to up the difficulty and make sure it's working.

I had an idea for the Escrot #7 challenge, but it didn't work. If you have a fighter bay with more fighters than the maximum you can have (which can be achieved through the use of the Gxxx set string or other methods), launch all of the fighters, and recall them to the bay, they all still return. I haven't tried it, but when you have a full fighter bay and capture another fighter of the same type, it doesn't go in your bay, right?

Well, you have to be able to hire, upgrade, fire, etc. the seventh escort just like you can for the regular six. I'm not sure that would do that.

Would you have to be able do this through the normal manner (Usually by hailing the escort) or would it count if it was all done through missions that triggered when you were landed?

The Nova engine is uncapable of doing it in the usual way. Also, mrxak specifically stated in the "The mrxak Challenge: Competition One has begun!" topic that you can use missions as workarounds for the usual way of doing things.

I plan to use a similar concept, by the way.

Anyway, we don't have to be able to order them around, do we?

K...I've decided to tackle the 7th escort challenge and have hit an odd snag:

The way I'm doing upgrades is by having multiple missions, one for each varient of the ship. Each upgrade mission is only available when you have the mission for the correct ship to be upgraded and simply makes the next version of the ship be your escort by making it a special ship and aborts the last mission. Should work fine...but for some reason the first mission (for initialy getting the escort) doesn't set the mission bit until after I warp out of the system or quit and restart nova. All the other mission set thier bits right when you accept the mission (yes the expression for the bit is in the onAccept field). It boggles my mind.

Also, the first mission tests for Availabilty to make sure none of the mission bits for itself or its varients are set...which works fine except for after I get the first varient. I take off and land again and the next upgrade is avaliable like its suppose to be, but so is the original mission, although one of the ncbs that is specifically tests to make sure its not set is set. Doesn't happen with the last two upgrade missions.

I've just changed it to use different ncbs and it has the same effect...any help?

Mkay...as for the crons, I thought I figured it out, but its not working. I gave the cron for each ship a postholdoff value of one day, made it reiterate the onstart expression until onenable is false. Its enabled when the control bit for the corresponding escort is activated and starts an autoaborting mission onstart which charges the corresponding daily salary for that escort. But it doesn't work and I don't know why. It should theoretically.
