Odd Startup Error

Okay, Nova is acting funky. I put in a plug-in containing the splash and main menu graphics for my project to test how they look. I am having no success. Nova gives me this error:

**Error loading spïn resource from PICT

Resource: 600
Error: Resource not found**

What the hell is up with this? Does it mean spïn resource 600 or the corresponding PICT? Either way, both exist. I tried opening spïn resource 600 in Nova Tools, and the PICT shows up just fine. Is this something I'm overlooking or a bug?

What about shan 600 and rle* 600? I dont think they changed the errors to reflect the addition of Shan and rle.

Azratax2: They have. I once had an error that an rle could not be loaded. But as far as I know, there's no shän or rlë with the RID of 600.

orcaloverbri9: spďn RID 600 is the spin for the NEW PILOT button in the main menu. The standard PICT resources RIDs are 8050 (color) and 8060 (mask). You said you created a new main menu. That means for me that either you gave the PICTs wrong RIDs or they are missing completely or you told the spďn the wrong RIDs, so that it is unable to load the graphic.

I know it's the NEW PILOT button. And I referred it to them. I know what I'm missing now, though—masks. Thanks!

Great. Now I can't even get the main menu to load. It loads the basic interface without the seperate image, it loads my ship's target pic, it loads most of my logo, and it loads the default rollover, but that's it. No menu animations, no pilot info, no menu buttons, part of the logo missing. And it crahes. What the hell is with this?

Make sure that the SpritesID is 8050, MasksID is 8060, and the xSize, ySize, xTiles, and yTiles values are correct, especially if your new button is a different size from the old one. Then, make sure that PICT 8050 is the button image and PICT 8060 is the mask image.

Get (url="http://"http://www.aznt.com/EVN/EVNEW")EVNEW(/url) - the free, open-source plugin EVN Editor for Windows!

Nova does strange things when parts of the interface are missing. If you are making changes, its probably best to make a completely new one from scratch, rather then trying to make new stuff fit perfectly with the old.

Well, it loads just fine now, but suddenly crashes out of nowhere. I tried it with the default interface, and it works just fine. It may be a bug with using an interface in a plug-in—would that be it, or am I overlooking yet another thing?

To tell if it is the fact the interface comes from a plug, copy all the interface picts from the data and put it in a plug with the same IDs. If it works, you've overlooked something. If it doesn't work, give up, nothing will ever do.
