A little problem..........

I have been downloading a few plug-ins lately, and when I unstuff them, they are just blank files! I have other plug-ins that work, but the recent ones Ive been downloading are just blank.

Also, anyone know where I could get an OSX version of ResEdit?

I bet you anything Mazca or mrxak are going to scold you for having a ton of periods. Please don't. It doesn't help get your point across, and with the moderators especially, tends to have the adverse effect.

I have no clue about the blank files, all I can suggest is that they made them with a later version of StuffIt, or that the archives are corrupted.

And there is no OS X version of ResEdit. This has been said many, many times. If you would try searching, you would find that it is OS 9 only.

One more thing: this topic may be moved to a different forum. It actually doesn't relate much to plug-in making, except for the question about a copy of ResEdit for OS X, which is irrelevent, since there is no such thing.

Well, some links to some OSX editor would help then.
And thanks for the warning........... and just to help it out a bit more, the 2 (well 3) corrupt plug-ins are the skipper plug-in and the elite nova plug-in. (ill put up links to them in a sec)

I can do my job, thanks, no need to tell people in advance. 😛 I don't have a big problem with the string of periods at the end, it maybe looks a little stupid but it isn't really annoying. The problem comes when you get topics like:

that clearly just have lots of punctuation to attract undeserved extra attention.

As for your problem, ChauSara - this is nearly always caused by unstuffing the plugins using StuffIt 7.0.0. It contains a rather glaring bug that strips the type/creator codes from plugin files, and Nova fails to recognise them as a result. Update to 7.0.1 or later (7.5 and 8.0 are available) and unstuff the plugins again - I bet it will work just fine.

As for OSX editors, try (url="http://"http://www.ariossoftware.com")EVONE(/url) and (url="http://"http://davidarthur.evula.net")Mission Computer(/url).

What's with you and us being gay? I mean, in your signature, the link adds '&urgaylol;=yes' to the URL. 🙂

Of course, that's not too bad, considering mrxak's link adds '&mrxak;=cool'... 😄

Alright! Thanks alot Mazca, now I can get back into plug-in making (and playing others too)

And for some reason, before every plug-in that I downloaded was corrupt except World of the Wrath 1.5...

I know that. It's not my point. I have a lot of experience with parameters within URLs. It's a method called GET, as opposed to POST, which sends the data in an extra variable. It's also a lot easier (in Perl, at least) to read GET parameters than POST parameters.

It's just tempermental when unstuffing. The latest version should not have this problem. But it's nothing particular about the plug - unless the developers of all the other plugs didn't know how to encode them properly in ResEdit. This happened occasionally with older plugs but I don't believe it's much of an issue anymore since the newer plugs apps automatically format the plugs properly.
