Does anyone know what tech level 56 does (in the standard Nova scenario)? I've seen it listed in the special tech field for about 20 different spobs, but I can't figure out what it does. So far as I can tell, no outfits or ships have this tech level. What else has a tech level?
Can this be safely deleted/changed without disturbing the stock scenario?

Yeah, a search of all the outfits and ships definitely seems to me that there is no techlevel 56 actually used by any item.
Why does it matter anyway? Why would you need to delete it?

The only reason would be if a plug required the creation of a new tech level, to be used at specific planet(s), and if those planets had all of their special tech fields used. Basically, for not disturbing the stock scenario with my plug.

Ah, fair enough. Looks like you can safely delete it, but some thorough beta-testing of your plug would be needed to make sure we haven't overlooked something with that tech level.
I suspect, however, that it is just a remnant of some division in availability that was later removed or changed.
It is not used, nor is 13. I suspect it was origionally for some form of cheap or illegal outfit, as it is in the middle of the TL's used for cheap and illegal/forged stuff. 13 i have no clue what it was for. Mabey they didnt want to use it cause it's an unlucky number. -Az

Thanks for the input, I was hoping that was the case. Just in case anyone else is keeping score, tech levels 21 (extensively) and 50 (once) also are in spob special techs, but are apparently unused.
In EVO I did, for my own use, a text doc telling the tech level used in one column and vague descriptions such as "crescent ammunition & the Arada" for tech level 85 (if I'm not mistaken) in the second column. I would do it for plug developping in Nova, do you think it's worth uploading? Maybe it should be more accurate, plus tell which spöbs you find them on if I was to make it public.

I have already done the first part of this, and it is on the addons page. Listing the spobs would be a larger undertaking though. -Az
Well, it would tell spöbs a vague way, such as "Fed ones", except for rare tech levels where it would tell all of them. Or maybe have well-defined groups at the beginning of the doc, such as "Moash spbs: all planets owned by the Moash gövt except/plus these spöbs: spöb#1, spöb#2, spöb#3, which usually have not the same/the same tech levels", and then at the line of the tech level have "tech level #: common Aurorean outfits and ships (chaingun, Fusion Pulse C., etc...); used by Gen.Aur spbs, Reb spbs, and Houseless (ID#nnn), etc..."
I think it is an useful working doc, especially for modest plug designers who add their station with nifty outfits and do not know which tech levels are unused, people who want to add an outfit/ship to these planets exactly and do not know which tech level it is accurately, etc... who may not be wanting to search all the spöbs for this information.
Technology level 56 isn't used, but we planned to use it. Then our plans changed.
Feel free to use it for whatever you deem best.
