Gov. Rating Forget Rate

Just a question for you formula-masters out there (Eugene, you listenning?). I know the Bible gives a formula for how fast your rating with a government returns to 0 from good/bad. HOWEVER, I also remember something about this not actually being implemented. Maybe that was only in EV/EVO, though I'm not sure. Has anybody got the real scoop on this? I have a particular government where it would be really inconvienient to have it forget about you- is there a way to turn this off? I can't remember off the top of my head if there's a flag for it or not. (I could fire up Novatools, though, couldn't I?) So scrap that last bit, I'll check. But the first question is valid- do governments actually forget you?

I haven't done enough in-depth development with Nova to be sure, but I've certainly never noticed governments forgetting my actions.

If it does turn out that they DO forget, then you could compensate by figuring out the rate and simply using a cron and invisible mission that periodically takes away as much legal status as has been 'forgotten'.

That's definately a possibility, Mazca. If it comes down to that, no problem. But I'd still like to know. Pipeline? You out there?

Just realized teh problem with this solution, Mazca- forgetting (if it exists) returns to 0. I need the government to remember good and bad ratings, and you can't trigger crons based on ratings.

What I'd have to do is make a pair of missions that activate invisibly every time you land- one if you're good, the other if you're bad, that sets an NCB that the two crons can look at, so that the bad cron will keep taking away status, and the good cron giving good status. But if the formula is non-linear, then I'm SOL.

Does anybody know for sure? The only reason this is important is because Sephil Saga happens over an extended period of time, so that even a slow forget rate, over 80 years game time (which is what we're dealing with), will make a substancial effect.

Well, it's easy enough to test. Create a mission in Nova that advances the game clock by decades, then go out and do some killing so people hate you. Then, activate the mission and see what your rating looks like.

I've never observed any forgetting, so I'd lean towards not implemented. Mazca's right though, a simple test can get you the real answer.

I just did a quick test, and with a legal rating of 1024, after a period of 1000 days, it was still 1024. The same thing happened with negative status. So obviously, government legal statuses do not decay towards 0 with time.
