I am developing a plugin for Nova, and I know how to deal with everything in ResEdit
Well... Almost... everything...
I would like assistance in learning how to deal with the rlë8 and rlëD Resources. Please help

First and foremost, the best resource is the Bible. It comes with Nova, in the Documentation folder (I think).
Also, to make rle*s you will need the EnRLE program. You can grab it on the Addon's page.
Its fairly self explanatory.
First of all... (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/cgi-bin/ubb/forumdisplay.cgi?action=topics&number;=9&SUBMIT;=Go")EV Plug-In Developer's Corner(/url) (hrm... it appears to have moved before I could post this.)
Now, for rlë8 and rlëD resources, you'll want (url="http://"http://w00tware.ev-nova.net/")"sprites" and "EnRLE, DeRLE"(/url)
You take your ship, make an animation (just do a quicktime movie) of your ship rotating 360ş, however many frames you think is nessecary (I'd have it 72). Then take the movie to m2s (If I remember correctly). Next, take those pictures (should include sprite and mask) and put them in a "pict" resource in a new resedit document, then set up a shän with the IDs for the sprite and its mask, set the base to read from pict instead of RLE, and then get info for the Shän and name it (or else you get an invisible file). Then take the pict-based sprite document to EnRLE, and you should end up with two files, rlë8 and rlëD.
Put these into a plug, and set up a shän for them. I think that's right, though I haven't done it in awhile...
Just read the documentation...

I can't find it, what section is it under?
Also, what does the csüm resource do?

Csum is a checksum, used to see if the datafiles have been modified when using the demo version. (right?) -Az

If you really want to know, it's under "utilities" in the EVN addons. That's what I though too. So, when I was unregistered, I removed the csum resource, but nothing happened. I dunno, maybe (or should I say mabey to you? :p) it automatically replaces it...

Well, I found a way to kinda bypass it, but it had nothing to do with moding csüm...
I don't dare post how, though
F.Y.I. Yes, I did purchase the game, so don't worry, no warez mokee here. I so wanted to abuse the engine, so I had to register, otherwise, it would have been hell

A good move in not posting the way to get around the csum resource.
However, I'd appreciate it if you would tell Ambrosia of the method you used so that it can hopefully be fixed in a future version... help@ambrosiasw.com .

Indeed. It took so many steps when registered that may need to delete my prefs folder to make it unregistered to find it again. I don't even remember what method worked, but me and my friends were hell bent on breaking it. We did everything from moding the created by date to <self-chopped, i think that was reveiling a little much-MH> The security was wonderful, though. Even with this method, it took me anywhere from 5-9 days processing time. I could have done 12-25 SETI Data units with a screen saver (gasp!) in that amount of time.
Hell, I was playing EV since V1, anyway. Why not buy Nova and DL the plugins for EV and EVO? 3 games for one!
I seem to have a new problem now, though, but beautiful tools, guys. Thanks a bundle!
I will do my best to explain.
Shďp Resource: ID=415 (Index=287) rlë8 resource: ID=1134 rlëD resource: ID=1134 shän resource: ID=428
The shän comes out looking clean, but when I run Nova to test, the new ship I made ends up: A random ship every time I restart Nova Always pointing "north" no matter which way it's going, but most annoying: always crashes the engine when I shoot it
Please help me, I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Mmm, the ship resource and the shan should be the same - that's how they reference each other. Check your sprite/mask IDs in the rle*s. If it's a stock ship they should be the same as the other ships that use the same sprites. If it's a new ship they should be completely unique. For the sake of organization and simplicity, the mask ID is generally one digit greater than the sprite. Also make sure you don't have a spin for the ship as well. That'll cause it to do the point in one direction thing.
