Judgeing: 30 points for origonality 50 points for keeping it below 400 KB 20 points for presantation (Opening screens, Font on main login screen. etc) Bonus 50 points: Keeping it under 50 KB
The plugin must begin its development stages when you reply here. You all have untill 12/20/03 to get a plugin into me.

This is pretty broad. If you want to do something like this I suggest you create some catagories or give some suggestions as to what kind of plugs you're looking for. Plugs can change some pretty random things or simply make a ship cost nothing so it might be better if you had some more specific guidlines.

Give us a challenge, not a plug in request.
All you have stated is: "Send me a plug." Excuse me while I whip up a plug that takes a minimum of 130 points. And, I'll enter it under "expert", and take the dang competition. Want to know what is involved? Fine. A grand total of 2 mďsn, 4 dësc, and nothing else. What does it do? OK, I suppose I can flat-out tell you. It puts a hold on your career path until you choose to advance it.
I know where you got the idea, but mrxak, unlike you, gives the developers a big hunk of nasty to try and chew. Some succeed, some don't, but everybody who attempts learns how to further abuse the game engine. That is the entire point of his competitions. It gives the fledgeling devvies a chance to understand the system and its limitations. Yours on the other hand, does nothing for us.

A good idea, truly, but not really a practical one, for a few reasons.
1. People who have any knowledge in plug-in making are generally wrapped up in their own projects.
2. The kind of person who would be interested in being ranked based on their scale generally doesn't know anything about programming.
3. You won't get any experts- anyone who is an expert at plug-in making has either gone insane and been committed to a mental hospital or is ~way~ to busy to enter a contest, the results of which will be "you're an expert at programming plug-ins."

Forgive me if there's something wrong eith my logic, but...what's the point in YOUR logic? What do you have against ship and landing graphics?
50 points for keeping it below 400 KB
Again, this logic is silly. A) IMO, you're offering too many points for file size, and since it has to be 400k or lower, it will be extremely easy to earn this, as the chances of it being EXACTLY 400k are slim, which happens to make it even more excessive in points.
Keeping it under 50 KB
Yet again, I think 50 points is a little too high to judge file size on.
These are just my opinions. You can choose to either disregard them or not. Your competition, your decisions.

Just when I thought I was improving. Sadly, I wouldn't score any points even on your beginner scale.
Clearly I've got the wrong idea about plugin making.
But thanks for enlightening me I can now safely leave off plugin making and find an alternative outlet.
