I actually make use of this in SFA -- low-ranked Science Officers whose specialities do not involve Bridge Duty are usually a detriment to your sensors and scanning ability.

Yes, this was a feature that I requested long ago, and mcb decided to implement it. I believe it was around version 1.0.2 or so. I was quite pleased.
