I made a ränk resc using EVONE, and it gives the player always allow combat assistance from a govt. I checked the govts and doo-hicks, but can't fine the problem.
I made two fleets, one xenophobic, and the other buddy-buddy with me. Then I made a rank that allows combat assistance with the buddy-buddy one.
When the xenos attack me, I "Request Assistance" button my buddy flet, and they say things like "You Wish."
Any ideas how to make it work?
Or am I requesting assistance from them wrong? I'm stumped

Could the max odds be too big? Not sure if that would have an effect. Have you tried a non-fleet guy helping you? A fleet is supposed to follow its lead ship, so maybe they won't help because of that.

Thank You greatly
I changed it to a dude, and didn't even have to 'y' the dude. He just started attacking the xenos as soon as they attacked me. It was rad!

:^) No problem. Trouble shooting for other people could well help me later if I ever move 'Clockwork' beyond proof-of-concept phase.

What's clockwork? Because if it's a large thing, I can help you test it, etc.
Just out of curiosity, did you hail the lead ship of the fleet, or one of its escorts?

The lead ship (an Arachnid, if it matters)

I may well take you up on that some day.
Clockwork is a semi-TC (uses same graphics and sound as Nova at the moment) which runs like clockwork in a way that would become apparent should you ever see it in action. It has devoured dozens of crons and still doesn't have any missions. The economy is reasonably lively and hopefully more interesting than Nova's, navigation is a little different and in some ways more varied, requiring you to think more carefully about where you want to go and combat should be considerably more of a challenge. Got a couple of nice ways of getting round the 'fast medium ships are best' syndrome. Doesn't feature many systems or planets, despite probably using a fair chunk of the syst and spob resources. The storyline, if it never gets transferred into mission format, should be somewhat epic in scope, lasting well over a decade and featuring a valiant struggle against insurmountable odds.
Of course, lacking as it is in missions (along with implementation of most of the ships, weapons and outfits I've conceived of), it'll never be more than a fun little toy for me to twiddle with. If it does get the missions, I'll go looking for new graphics and ask people if they want to test it.
If you really want a look at how it's going right now, I could email you a copy some time. Best to leave it a week or two though, because I'm flying back to uni in less than 24 hours and will have a very busy week. I'd like to get a few more ships activated and some prices assigned so you can see what one level of the navigation, the economy and combat will be like.
