Plugins exist to clear all the bits at the endof a storyline, but i know of none to do what you want (especially since it is so spesific to your situation). Luckily, it is very easy to make such a plugin. Open up Resedit and make a new file. If you dont have novatools, copy the tmpl resources from the bible and tmpl's download on the download page into this new file. Make a new misn resource with id 1127 (so it wont conflict with other things - 1127 is the highest rid a mission can have). Leave everything as it is by default, except: Availrandom 100 Autoaborting checked (set flags to $0001 if you are not using novatools) OnAbort set to an NCB set string.
The ncb set string is a space separated list of missionbits to set (many other things can be done with them). !bxxxx where xxxx is a number will unset that bit when the mission is aborted (which happens as soon as it is taken, because the mission is set to auto-abort). Look at the Nova walktrhoughs and a pilotlog to determine what you need to set in order to achive your goal.
Now save the file, and then go to file->get file/folder info, and select your new plug, and set the type and creator fields to Npif and Nova, where the i, o, and a have the 2 dots over them. I find it easier to just get file/folder info on an existing nova plug and copy them from that.
I Have made a large number of plugs that do things like this (one to unrefuse the first WG mission, one to undo the abort of the cunjo hunt, and so on.). To reverse decisions i made before i discovered that in EVN, refusing missions gets you in trouble (didnt know you couldnt just get the mission again when i was first playing nova).
If you're on a PC, if you tell me exactly what bits want to be twiddled, i can whip up a plug for you and post it. -Az

you typed "Npif" a few times in this post and talked about the two dots "¨" its easy-- the umläut (sp . . . maybe) (option key} + (keyboard u) then (keyboard key ex: i) = ď fun with keyboard secrets!!! alright.
by the way ive been looking into developing a plug, possibly a template for the NpďL resource as none exist. It seems like tricky business from where i stand but i have alot to learn. post a reply if you have any interest or knowledge. I would really like to talk with someone about this. thanks
The Npďl is the pilot's informations. These aren't used in any plugins (and ignored by Nova if in a plug), and his informations are encrypted. The Npďl resources are used only in the pilot files.
