Explosion making

Anybody knows how to model or do this? i'm asking from scratch, i have absolutely no idea where to even start!

Apart from that I know nothing, I never created any good explosions :).

They're really easy to make in Strata 3d Pro - I'm fairly sure they were easy to make in the version of Strata 3d that is avaiable from some people on this board. I haven't tried it with the current version.

BTW, long, long ago we had a discussion about explosions and came to the conclusion that billowing yellow explosions are an inaccuracy.

You only get billowing yellow when you burn organic compounds in oxygen. There's a nice little discussion about this in one of the later episodes of Babylon 5.

A real ev explosion in space would involve a nuclear flash followed by tonnes of debris being scattered to the solar winds.

It would be nice to see some plugins implementing this.

Well, I've been considering writing a particle generator to do exactly this, but it is only in concept at this point. If I get more time, I'll play around with it. It should generate several 3D orbs according to user-defined parameters, with a variety of patterns. sigh But to have more time...
