First off.... Hello! Much thanks Ambrosia for making such an addictive game!
I've taken a good look around and haven't found any info about about making plug-in's with windows. Does anyone know of any utilitys/progams around for us backward PC peepings???
I have quite a large TC in mind... One I'd hope many of you would enjoy!
Anyways... Thanks

There are no plug-in development utilities for Windows. Yet.

Is there any way to create plug-in's with windows?

I guess you could use ResEdit through an emulator.
I've dug up a nice Mac emulator... Soon I shall enleash the sheer power of the StormWeaver upon Nova... May the Endarx take pitty upon you...
Cant wait but may I suggest you do a small plug first before you commit yourself to a TC.

Indeed. You should start small, just to get the feel of how plugins work and what they can do. Be sure to also read the Bible in the Documentation folder in the Nova directory.
I'm sure that I have a few missions, outfits and ships I could interest you with...
I asked the same question yesterday, only to be shot down. (see "Dumb Question") What emulator did you get? Also, does w00tware work on an emulator?

There are a few people (myself included) who are working on Windows native plugin developer. I've been in contact with some people at Contraband about getting the official .rez format released and though I've had several positive conversations with them on the phone, I have yet to receive any emails from them.
Mehrunes has posted the only .rez file format to date, and its one that he put together himself through a lot of diligent effort. Do a search on this forum and you'll find it, if you want to start working on a program of your own. His file format is the one I'm using right now to write my program.
And no, its nowhere near ready for release. Simply a work in progress.

That's amazing! Hurray for you guys! I've done a few scrolling games, but nothing like that. Keep us posted. In the meantime, I have to find me an emulator.

Huzzah! I was getting tired of all the n00bs on the Nova board asking "omg can i make plugs on windoze". Kudos.
I'll say... and it's only a matter of time before they figure out there are other boards, and we get drowned in "a sea of retards" to quote someone...
Damn nOOb's. Why don't they get more experience on these boards before they come on these boards... no... wait...

Azdara whenever someone shows up like that you could always post that pic that you replied to cappy with. You know the old sailor...
I wrote a small page on how to get things set up to edit plugs with an emulator. (url="http://"http://www.tresgeek.net/~mrflippy/ev/win-plug-howto.html")http://www.tresgeek....plug-howto.html(/url)
I'm successfully creating plugins using an emulator and ResEdit. ------------------

Well you see I can get away with that over there, because I'm one of the moderators :), but here I think I'd find my 7 becoming a 6 pretty quickly. Plus it wouldn't be that funny, just slack. It really was a legitimate question, albeit one that has been asked about 78 times.
So, people should use the search.
Look back a bit, this is asked over and over. It's good to see people taking an interest though. Just look around the forum.
Secondly, it is illegal to download a image of a Macintosh ROM. I can't stop you, but I will remove any information on these boards relating to it.
However, it is easiest to use an emulator, unless you purchase a mac of course. You'd be best with either an early PowerMac or a later Quadra or something, just edit the plugin on the mac, test on windows. No point spending money on something you'll never use. Even better would be to buy a shiny new mac, but not everyone can afford that.

I have several old PMs and I find it easier to do all the development under the emulator, because even trsfering the plugin files over the network is quite a pain, and nova tools actually is a good deal MORE zippy on my pc under emulation, go figure. Joe

I still want to know.
Novatools will run under emulation, weap resources may not open (they dont on mine, but might on other roms).
Illegal or not, it looks like apple doesnt care about people downloading early 90's era mac roms (I wonder why? Mabey it's because the technology is so old that they have nothign to lose by people pirating the roms? Heck, they long since released all the operating systems and software of that era). In any case, i have bought, worked on, and thrown out in frustration enough aging macintoshes that they owe me about half a dozen roms. > :frown: -Az
