For those who have used my Zombula tutorial before, they may have noticed its dissapearance over the past couple months. For those months, i've been busy, so I've been unable to update it, as I was working on my site, and other randomg things.
Recently, however, my website has gone on-line, and while still incomplete, I plan to have it finished (the website, not the tutorials) by the end of this week.
More importantly, I have updated two things on the 'tutorials' section.
First off, and more important, the Zombula Technique Tutorial is back on-line. For those of you who do not know what this is, it is a tutorial for photoshop for creating nebulae, mostly for background images for say, Outfit pics, or startup screens. Or just background for ship scenes, if you're not working on a plugin.
Secondly, the nebula created in that tutorial ends up without a starry background, as it should. That will be added when I do the starfield tutorial, perhaps later on today. So in the meantime, I have supplied 4 different starfields which can be found at the bottom of the tutorials page.
Eventually, I will have all of the tutorials on that page finished, which should boost ship/image quality and production for those of you making graphics for plugins. (url="http://"http://zombat.roosteredge.com/tutes.html")http://zombat.rooste....com/tutes.html(/url)
I hope this will help you all. Further updates on Zomtorials will be posted under this topic when each tutorial is finished. Enjoy

Just an unreleated question. What happened to the Dune plug you were working on?

Dune died. Too much work, too little time. I'm working on something else now, something perhaps better ...
I may release the three ships I had made if I decide to render the sprites in Nova form.
Sorry
Very nice, but I noticed that a bunch of your links don't go anywhere.

C'est dommage.
It sounded like it would have been a great plug. Oh well.
You working on "The Aftermath" plug? How is that coming, the site hasen't been updated in quite a while... ...I can't seem to find the site now, did that go down as well? Man, i've been out of it and plugs are dying right and left...
That list of not yet done tutorials looks very cool. I can't wait to see them.

A dune plug? How did that idea come up? I haven't read any of the "new" dune books, but AFAIK, we never saw any space combat in the dune books...
Zombat: I looked at the "nebula" tutorial; it's very very good. I have an idea for one new thing that you might like to try. Many times a dark band in a nebula is not caused by an actual gap in the nebula itself, but by another, smaller cloud of dust and gas (which is unlit because it has no stars inside) that's beween the viewer and the bright nebula. You could try to mimic that effect by using a darken layer on top instead of leaving breaks at the beginning. Note: kibbitz from astronomy buff, not a photoshop pro.
The triffid nebula that you have linked is like that, and also: (url="http://"http://hubblesite.org/newscenter/archive/2001/34/")http://hubblesite.or...rchive/2001/34/(/url) (url="http://"http://hubblesite.org/newscenter/archive/1996/38/")http://hubblesite.or...rchive/1996/38/(/url)

Yeah. there was not much, save for the No-Ships towards the end of the series.
In the new books there was space combat. I was going to do the 'Butlerian Jihad' where you'd be fighting machines for freedom ...
A few things:
First, the "cg assisted" gallery seems to be a linkless copy of the main gallery page. Though it looks like a placeholder as you upload things, it's kinda funny.
Second, I'm noting that you named your starfields after Marathon Infinity levels. A touch of class, if I do say so myself.
As for Dune, it's always sad to see another promising TC go down. Someone who is independantly wealthy should buy us EV developers some time off work to be able to fully create these dreams of ours...any volunteers?
Lastly, I've had much success with judicious use of the "liquify" function to create those darkened ribbons and larger, smoother swaths of light on nebulas. It can become very cheesy at an alarming rate, however, so I would gravely impress sparse and tasteful use of this tool. You may have already known this, but I know 5.5 doesn't have this feature.

Yeah, I'm still working on the CG asssisted part.
And yes, I did name them after infinity levels ... glad someone recognized that.
In my case, the distraction is school... so I don't really be sponsored.
I know nothing about 'liquefy' ... I don't have to money to upgrade..
Oh my. I didn't even notice the Marathon Infinity references. I guess it's because I played Marathon a lot more than I did Infinity.
