When running a conjurer, don't cast Wizard of War and use the tent in the Guild... biiiiiig problems: it's like the tent got "cast" more than a hundred times. (I lost track somewhere around 120.)

Really?
Huh. Never tried that. As a test, would you mind casting a different spell, say moki or magic mirror, and then using the tent? How about doing the same but not within the guild.
I'm curious as to what is causing that problem. Never seen nor heard it, and from memory, I can't fathom why this would occur.
Is this reproducible?

I just tried Axe's experiment. I cast WoW, entered the guild, and set up the tent. Everything worked as it should. I used the tent three separate times with the same result. I went back outside and re-entered several times. Each time the tent worked perfectly. Somehow I think Axe's game got locked on the tent use call. It doesn't not seem to be a problem in Spells Expander. But spooky things have happened to me too at other times with various plugins. PoG with any plugin is sometimes fragil. Best advise I can give is to quit when something like that happens and go back to the last save.

The (url="http://"http://www.evula.org/rduck/")Kingdom of Garendall(/url) sectional map is easily printed from gif format pages. Find those areas you missed the first time around. You'll want to explore those hidden areas now made accessible with Spells Expander.

Didn't think it was...
I was more interested in finding out if there was a quirk in the tent and tracking down what made it do that. That's just odd, and there is nothing in the WoW code that should make the tent behave in such a way.
I just become curious with odd things.
Okay, this is deffinitely An Odd Thing ™.
For some totally unknown reason, when I used the tent in the "southern" half of the tunnel to Kalixa's place, about 164 calls were made to the tent routine. This time, there were no spells active.

Are your sure your conjurer is not really the sorcerer's apprentice? This sounds like a bad case of tentinitis.
(I think I'd better sign off now)
How many plug-ins do you have installed, and which ones?
You might attempt to do this:
Take a character that you have and back him up(duplicate the saved game file). Then remove all plug-ins and load that character(he will lose every plug-in related item/skill). Run around for a bit and see if the tent still acts up.
When you replace your plug-ins make sure you load the back up of your character file, else your character will still not have the spells/items he aquired before.
Hmmmm.... I don't have any focused idea on what might be going wrong, so a little bit of general stuff: I know you are running PoG on a Mac (you are using CS!). If you are running it in Classic (OS 9 and below) up the memory allocation a bit, even if you already have the suggested amount (I never trust those things). Also, more general, latest version of PoG (many problems in 1.0.1). If all of these check out it is most likely some miniscule coding problem that we can't figure out. Oh, another question, had you been using Moki, or another spell with a cooldown right before you used the tent? It might have to do with a timer... Anyway, not a clue what else could be wrong, but Stark knows better than me so try his idea first. Good luck! (*temporary solution: save every time before you use the tent)

Active plug-ins for this character: Trinity RD's beta Sapphire SpeedyKeys Spells Expander The Mushroom Lady (same version available on add-ons page, nothing newer)
Then remove all plug-ins and load that character(he will lose every plug-in related item/skill).
I get an error message: "Impossible to load this saved game."
Okay, it loads if I use only Trinity.
I'm running the latest version of PoG under 10.2.4.
I'm off to fight the harpies the hard way....

Yeah, you'll need to have Trinity loaded due to the classes code. Everything else ought to be removeable.

Well, you did originally say to remove all the plugins...
No tent problems so far, but then it was three days between the first two.

Yeah, I know. I wasn't on the ball.
Mmmmm.... I am running the same thing and have had no tent problems. Then again its been AGES since I used the tent.

No offense, but this contributed to the discussion at hand how?
Sorry. I was thinking and wound with nothing so I posted that (instead, I should have posted nothing at all...) but now I have a thought. I have been running fine with all of those EXCEPT SpeedyKeys. It's the only one I don't have and I have been tent crash free. Now this may be pure coincidence (more than likely) but I just noticed it and thought to point it out.
A short time later
I just looked at the speedykeys description. Did you activate the tent via Speedykeys? This might be the problem. SpeedyKeys might have a bug causing the tent to be called over and over. Try calling it with/without SpeedyKeys and report back your finds!
EDIT: Stark: And telling me that my post didn't contribute to the discussion was just as helpful
(This message has been edited by CI-Ia0s (edited 03-28-2003).)
I always use SpeedyKeys to invoke the tent. Why has it caused the problem now, and not before? Worse, why is it so frippin' intermittent?!?
RD: you don't have any keydowns tied to T, do you?
One thing I realized: in both cases, the tent went funky when part of it was either obscured by something or off the top edge of the screen. Whether or not that makes a difference, I dunno. I've tried all sorts of odd tent locations, but didn't have the problem.
Originally posted by Axe: RD: you don't have any keydowns tied to T, do you?
I have no keydowns at all in whatever of mine you have loaded. I suspect, however, that this (the keydown) might be the root of the problem if your're not buying my theory that your conjurer is at least distantly related to the sorcerer's apprentice.
For those who don't know the story, the sorcerer's apprentice was ordered to bring water from the well. When the sorcerer's (or conjurer's) back was turned, he cast a spell to make the broom come to life and fetch the water. He didn't know how to stop the spell when the cistern was full, so he chopped the boom to pieces with an axe (no relation to Axe, I'm sure) and all the pieces grabbed a bucket and started hauling water till the place was flooded. Sorta sounds like too many tents to me.
Moral of the story: If you want to be a conjurer, or plug-in developer (and they are related, I'm sure), You gotta know how to undo the havic you have wrought. ~RD
