hello, im new to the developer's corner, although i have been wasting my time at the general env board for some time. perhaps this is not the best way to do this, but im sure someone will be nice enough to flame me if they know better. anyhow, i have some free time on my hands (not THAT much) and i was wondering if any plug developers needed a graphic artist? i have alot of experience with vue4 (much like bryce, better in most ways), some basic modeling experience with lightwave, and a few days on some other more esoteric 3d & 2d apps. anyhow, i was wondering if anyone wanted some landscapes for ports, perhaps spob graphics... im not that talented at modeling (for ships, outfits, etc) and i dont really want to do that anyhow (animation takes more time than i want to spend), but i would love to lend a hand to anyone's tc with some cool landscapes for planets or spob images. email me if interested at thomsonw@colorado.edu
oh yes, dont worry about getting boring "brycescapes", i have at least that much talent.
------------------ why should they respect?
I've always wanted to develop a string that gets really involved with the repair of broken Hypergates. But one thing (out of many) that has held me back is the need for a "landscape" PICT of the interior of the Hypergate, well multiple interiors actually, but I could make it work with just one. I'm a whiz at programming, but not very good at right-brain creativity when it comes to graphics. I just never could draw worth a d__m. What I envision is a control-romm scene almost like the bridge of a starship but with a viewport or viewscreen in the background that appears to be the Hypergate from the perspective of the control-room if you "see" what I mean. Interested?

Arturo, i would love to help, truly, but i have little to zero experience doing interiors or architectural renders. i do this as a hobby between classes. i suppose i should give a more specific idea of what i can do.
i usually do outdoor/natural exteriors, and some outer space scenes. i have never made graphics for a game before; most of the renders i do are for art/personal interest reasons. as such my personal tastes run towards landscapes, but i am competent enough to do some cities/bases/orbital platforms/etc for evn. the following is a link to some images i have done. some i did earlier than others and are therefore more crude. unfortunatly the only place i can post these is on a yahoo group (sorry), and so you will need a login/password. use: evnboard/webuser (url="http://"http://makeashorterlink.com/?E2A533435")here is the link(/url).
note: renders on this page were done for artistic purposes, if you request some image for your plug you can expect a more apropriate pov or more consistant lighting. also, in the process of uploading the images, yahoo took it upon itself to compress them, the image quality on a couple is degraded, but its not too bad.

Dwezle, hi. Welcome to the developers corner... Possibly the first thing that you should do is head on over to bomb's topic "Members of this Board" and put in your details. There's also a plug-in recruitment list somewhere down the page where we generally direct people to look for development help, just put your details and what you do on there. Then if someone wants to use your skills, they can just email you or something. Another idea is to wait untill someone posts a topic saying how fantastic their plug is, and how they want everyone to help them. A word of advice though, be carefull what you sign up for, a lot of stuff basically turns into "vapourware" and dies. So make sure someone is actually dedicated and you like their idea before you sign on.
As a graphics person (they tend to be in shorter supply around here, because it's harder to learn than scripting stuff, in my opinion anyway) you'll probably find it easy to get onto a development team.
Another thing you may want to do is get some webspace up somewhere so you can put your graphics up for people to use for free in their plugs. Some people (not enough) provide free shipyards, spobs and all sorts of graphics which people snap up if they're good. You also might want to check out the image gallery, to post stuff you're working on to get advice and criticism/praise.
Apart from that, just be respectfull, and don't take stuff too seriously. You should enjoy your stay.
Good luck.

Hey, no problems.
You might want to dig up the master recruitment list or whatever its called, and add yourself to it. That's all I can think of.

Dweezle, the link you posted was absurdly massive and was playing havoc with the board layout... I replaced it with a makeashorterlink.com key that redirects to it.

Dweezle, those are excellent images. I suggest you start posting some of them to the EV Image Gallery. In my opinion, your work is on par with or better than the best landing scenes in EV Nova.
all the best,
Dave

Wow! Kind praise! Thanks so much, guys for the very polite and generous things you had to say. Especially pipeline, with whom I had a bit shout-at (heh, water under the bridge).
I was out of the state, so I didnÂ’t get to reply or read anything, so sorry if I didnÂ’t respond in a timely fashion. Well, again, my offer is open to all, and email is my preferred method of contact.
