Ever since I started using NovaTools, ResEdit has been acting quite strangely. I can't save a single plug file anymore without receiving a message saying "the end of the file was unexpectedly reached". Then no save occurs.
I lost several hours of work before I realized this problem occurs on a regular basis now. Any ideas as to the what the problem may be?

What system? Have you tried redownloading it or reinstalling NovaTools?

OS 9.
I've trashed my ResEdit prefs and tried reinstalling NovaTools, yes. The problem continues to persist though.
Mine works. This is probably illigal but you can download it (url="http://"http://www.homepaGE.MAC.COM/SEC222/ResEdit.sit")here(/url).

Illegal? I wouldn't understand why sharing a free program would be illegal.
Thanks, I'm off to check on my luck now.
It's obviously not a problem with my copy of ResEdit. I re-downloaded NovaTools, trashed my RE prefs (again) and did the sequence all over again with your copy of RE. No luck; same problem still occurs.
Have you tried saving different files? Is anything weird happening to the rest of your system? Try restarting. Besides that, I don't know what else to say.

My system has always acted weird in my opinion. Mostly 'cause OS 9 is getting old.
I've been using NovaTools for about a month... it seems to greatly dislike saving files.
How big is your plugin file? I know there's a maximum size (MB) for resource forks and a maxiumum number of resources...I don't know what the numbers are, but it's something like 14 MB for the maximum file size. That's why Nova has so many separate datafiles for each data type, and not just one file for everything.
I think ResEdit will give you that error if you go over either limit.

Ahh, bingo. That must be the problem then. Plug size is 15.4 megs...
Guess I'll have to start splitting the data files and see if that's the solution. Thanks.
Yups, that was indeed the problem. Worked fine once I seperated landscapes (6.5 megs) from the rest of the plug.
Many thanks Weepul.
