Chär Help Please

OK, I'm trying to make a generic trader type chär that's well liked everywhere. (as in has a legal standing of about decent citzen with all govs)

Unfortunatly, when I try to set the legal standing of any particular gov up to that, all of it's enemies drop correspondingly. And that's a bit of a problem whith the major govs...

Is there any way to make it set ALL govs to a particular legal standing? Or even just all the major govs (Fed, Pol, Aur, Reb) have said legal standing?

Thanks

I don't think so :frown:

The problem is how the gövts are set up, with some being enemies. They're interlinked so that their legal ratings with interconnect- the only way to stop that from happening, I think, would be to make a gövt plugin that would make all of the gövts allies or something like.. but that would just be weird, and I think it would screw up gameplay.

Sorry :frown: Hope somebody else has a way to do this for you..

It seems kinda odd that, in the game, you can get to be very well liked by everyone. (Excepting the pirates, and possibly the houseless) Even when doing string missions for particular govs, I can usually remain well liked by all (at least untill I start getting combat missions...).

I suppose I sort of whish there was an "average standing" type field that determines what passes for your general standing...

Hmmm... I was just thinking and came across a sort of solution, except in reverse. Everyone hates marauders, right? So if I set the legal status regarding the marauders to be negative the appropriate amount, the other govs should corespondingly be positive. Possibly have to set the "Houseless" and "Pirates" to be negative as well (just to cover all possible relations). Should work, at least in theory.

Yes, that would likely work.

You see, in Nova, the only reason you can get everyone to like you is because killing enemies to increase legal standing only effects nearby systems, so you could even get the Pirates to like you.

I would suggest making a few governments that are enemies with the major governments, and lower that gövt's initial standing in the chär.

Doubtful you could get the Pirates to like you. Ships -- especially warships -- of any gövt that has the Xenophobic and/or Always Attacks Player flags set aren't really affected by your rating with a gövt. Trust me, this is field-tested.

Technically, yeah. However, if you increase your standing high enough with a xenophobic government, it's ship will not attack you within that government's systems. They will of course attack you in a system where you are not rated high enough with them, including in uninhabited systems, if I recall.

Only problem I (think I) see is that everybody doesn't officially hate Marauders and Houseless and whoever. Decreasing your rating with them isn't linked to everybody else. What I would do is make copies of all the major governments, and add another (preferably unused) class to them. Next, make a dummy government that has an enemy of that new class, and decrease your rating with the dummy. That should work. Should.

Easy. In your chär set the United Shipping gövt (RID 166) to a high status value. Since United Shipping's allies are the Feds, the Rebels, the Aurorans, and the Polaris you get a corresponding boost to your character's status with all of them. This is how the most of the United Shipping missions work.
