Preventing legal status clearing

Does anyone know if it's possible to prevent your legal status from reseting after you've ejected. My pilot is working for a Xenophobic govt and ends up being overwhelmed by the enemy and destroyed. By the time you're at this point the govt in question thinks pretty well of you (although it always says N/A, grrr). But of course after you eject they hate your guts again and won't let you land (because the govt starts with a high minCool value).

At this point I can only see two ways of correcting this. Include a Let Land Regardless flag in a rank that has already been acquired or to lower the MinCool level of the govt to 0. The point of this is that you're allowed to go out into the universe and do missions that negatively affect your standing in that govt but up to a point you'll be allowed to return. Cross that line and you're out for good. Keeping this feature means that setting a rank flag is out which leaves setting a different MinCool as the only option but only if I have to. I'd prefer to keep the pilot's legal status unchaged in all systems as this too affects game play. Anyway, I'm guessing this is hard coded into the engine but if there's a way to change it let me know. I'm also open to any other ideas. (Actually, now that I think about it, I might lower the MinCool to 0 regardless - but it is fun having a govt hate your very existance from the very beginning.)

You might want to consider using a technique like the one used (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/webboard/Forum9/HTML/003990.html")here(/url) to get what you want. I haven't experimented much with it yet (school keeps me so busy...), but it'd probably be possible to bring the player's legal status back to where it was (or where it should be) with the second mission.

Mmm, perhaps. I guess I might have to resort to using a mission that's available anywhere. Maybe a silent mission that auto-aborts. The immediate problem that I see with that though is that when I tested the mission, after ejecting, I ended up in one of the systems of the particular govt so it wouldn't be possible to land to get ANY new missions. And getting back to friendly space is all but impossible in a Shuttle with only 3 jumps and a LIght Blaster especially through pirate ridden systems. All the missions are legal status driven rather than combat rating so it's pretty important that this works. Which would also mean that there's a definite status minimum that I could "reset" to. Still I hate having the Polaris going back to being wary of you and everyone else thinking you're all-right. The Polaris are supposed to like you and everyone else hate you dagnabit. Eh, sorry, just thinking out loud.
