I've been tinkering around with novatools and resedit and I've run into a problem. Everytime I edit a Weap resource I get an "error 7" and I have to restart. At the restart it tells me to disable extensions by holding down shift while restarting. I do this and the error still occurs. I've checked the apple error code list and it's some kind of privilege error. I'm using 8.1.

I have just about the same problem. I use 8.1 in an emulator. The problem lies, I believe, with the Color Picker fields (that little colored button next to a hex field you can click to get the standard Color Picker). Weap resources have a bunch of those. Apparently they are very unstable under 8.1. I think other resources that have Color Pickers also crash.

Use the TMPLs to edit weaps and other color-containing resources. Open the file named "Templates" (that came with the 1.0.5 update) in ResEdit at the same time as your plugin. Select the "TMPL" icon in the "Templates" window and copy it (command-c). Go to your plugin and paste. Close the "Templates" window. Then, instead of double-clicking on the weap you want to edit from your plugin, select it, go to the Resource menu, and select "Open Using Template...". When the list appears, just hit enter.
