Fireing from sides in EVC

Is there anyway to fire a weapon from the sides in EVC? Im thinking about makeing a plug where this weapon will play a big role.

I don't think so. You can only choose front-swivel and rear-swivel.

You could fire from one side by making the sprites off center.

...but then your ship would fly sideways.

Heheh... that would be funny.

Couldn't you make it a full turret, but one which can't fire to the front or back... kind of like how the cargo transporter in EVO couldn't fire backwards?

Don't look at me like that, I do graphics, not plug design!

No, he couldn't, Azdara- EVC/O doesn't have the ability to customize the firing circle. The ship you are thinking about had front-quadrant turrets, I believe.

I swear there was the ability to give ships turret blind spots... but only after the 1.2 update... You must remember.

Am I remembering things that never happened?

(EDIT) Just realised the question was for EVC... stupid, stupid...(/EDIT)

Turret blind spots - supporting front, back, left, and right controls - are present in EV Override 1.0.2 and all versions of EV Nova. Escape Velocity and the earlier versions of EV Override can mimic certain blind spot configurations using the forward swivel and rear swivel turret types.

Wow- I didn't know they had added blind spots to EVO. I kind of skipped that one development-wise for the most part. Well, my bad Azdara. Don't like giving bunk info. Thanks, DA.

EDIT: Oh yeah, the question was for EVC, not EVO. Now I don't feel quite so bad. You are stuck with front and rear turrets for EVC.

Are you thinking like putting side-firing cannons on sailing vessels?

The inaccuracy setting just widens the possible random angle a weapon can be fired at. Some plug-ins use it to interesting effect by having it set at 180 and having lots of shots fired at once, thus producing an arc. But there's no way to do side-firing in EVC.

It's even better if you have a weapon which uses submunitions to fire 36 shots at an inaccuracy of 360°. I (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/cgi-bin/vftp/dl-redirect.pl/Firestorm_1.0.0.hqx?path=evn/plugins&file;=Firestorm_1.0.0.hqx")wonder(/url) where I go that idea...
