I'm just posting a thought I had. I think that all mission string plugs should contain a walkthrough. Therefore you don't have people e-mailing, or starting topics you, asking how or why you can't get the next mission. Just a thought.
------------------ RoLLeY49
I plan on keeping the details of my TC's storylines very secretive (I'll mention in passing that they exist, perhaps, but no walkthroughs). If someone really, really needs help, they can open it up in ResEdit/Mission Computer/EVONE/etc. and find out for themselves. I think walkthroughs are great for beta testing and "cheating", but nothing else. If there is some mystery in the scenario, it's probably meant to be that way.

mrxak is right. If you include a walkthrough, people will get tempted at the slightest problem and use it. Therefore ruining all the hard work put into the plug by those making it. Spoilers also then tend to get out to people on forums and such, who don't want to hear them.
------------------
Example: XMen 2: Wait until a friend has seen it, and then allow that friend to tell you all about the movie. Now go and see the movie yourself. How good is the movie now that you know what is going to happen at every turn?
By the same token, having a walkthrough with your TC or Plugin ruins the game.
(changed movie)
A friend of mine got a "hacked" version of Xmen2 before it came out here. I watched it on my PC. (It was from a Camcorder from a showing in China. You could see the chinese subtitling )
I've seen it now so I know the whole plot and who dies. It won't be as good as seeing it for the first time. ------------------ Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.

If a walkthrough is bad, then someone should tell slagblah. Hey vast Deathmaster, could you send me X man 2.

I agree. If walktroughs are useless, why is Slagblah higly thanked for making one? I think Pikeman said he would give a karma point if he didnt have maximum karma already. People are directed there if they have mission problems and it isnt ansvered in the Gameplay FAQ. Or is that Nova is a game, not a plug-in?
------------------ I am eager to try to ansver mission questions
It is extremely useful in the beta tests. Trust me, we use it a lot to speed things up. For a major game like Nova, of course, there will be walkthroughs, just as there are already many cheat plugs to add to it. I'm just saying it makes little sense with a TC or other plug-in. I just don't see why the developer should help people cheat. If somebody makes a walkthrough for my TC, I wouldn't get angry, but I'm not going to do it for them.

I didn't mean it for cheating, I just wanted it so that people don't go around asking billions of questions on why there not getting the next mission.

But don't you end up "cheating" anyway? Hmmmm, I don't want to keep doing the Polaran Diplomacy missions, so I can get the multi-jump organ. Hmmm, where am I supposed to go?
Do you get what I mean? Even if you originally intend to have the walk through only for answering questions, you will end up reading it to get the "best things" in the game. You end up cheating.

Look around, if you are a Kazaa fan, I am sure someone will give it to you.
I don't think that would happen anyway. If somebody asked me a question about my TC, I'd just tell them to play the game and find out for themselves. If you tell them, or if they have another way to find out, it is definitely cheating.
But what if you hit a bug? You need to atleast know the bits and stuff. Or what if you have been surffing the galaxy for days and you can't get the next mission, do you just sit there looking around? I think you need at least a jumpstart.

Just open the plugin in (url="http://"http://www.resexcellence.com/support_files/resedit.shtml")ResEdit(/url), using (url="http://"http://w00tware.ev-nova.net/")NovaTools(/url). All the bits are specified in mďsn resources.

If it's a (suspected) bug, report it to the developer and they will fix it if it's a bug. If it isn't a bug, then the player is meant to wait, and wait they should.
A "jumpstart" is a cheat, pure and simple. If everything is nice and easy, than it isn't as much fun. If a player wants to cheat, then let them, but I don't see any good reason to help them do it.

Someone wasn't paying attention, has a crappy copy, or doesn't know the back story from the original series...
Was that a phoenix I saw on the water? Did flames occur?
Oh oh! I smell a threquel...

About walkthroughs... I don't think they're great, It was good to have one for nova, because I didn't have to screw around when I got stuck because of dumb reasons (having no red arrow and forgetting where to go etc) but if people use it just for the whole thing, then it ruins the point and their fun...
By the same token it's their fun to ruin, and the people who really get the enjoyment out of it will only use it wwhen they ket stuck.
A good plug should have NO bits where you can get stuck by crappy bits, but this can be unavoidable...
