Uhm, can you say, uh, overpowered? 3 FPCs total to 15 tons, RRs are 5 tons each, and the IR launcher is 5. That totals to 15+10+5=30 tons. That'd be a great loadout for the Scout Ship, but it's a little excessive for a Viper. Try this:

2 FPCs
1 IR launcher + 200 IR Missiles (I can't understand why you keep leaving off the last
fifty missiles -- there's a max of 200 IRs, and a max of 150 Radars)

Of course, this is only the standard variant. There'll be four or five others, each with slightly different armaments and capabilities. For example, one might have a pair of T-Head lances and a pair of Light Cannon. Another might be a Fighter/Bomber version with a single Wraithii Cannon as its sole weapon. And so on, and so on.

------------------
Suddenly, the little scoutship disappeared and then reappeared right behind the alien warfleet. The gravitic ship's captain hailed the armada. "You are going to be destroyed, but I will give you a choice as to how you want to spend eternity: big pieces, little pieces, or quarks?"
Dead silence.
"Quarks it is, then."

Your outfiting AI remember, not what your favorite combo would be.
No base ship comes with that many missiles, specialy on a fighter.
on a base ship, it usualy goes
per IR rack, 3
per Raven pod, 30
per Radar rack 3
etc.

the uber Fed Viper.
4 light cannons.
1 IR rack, 3 missiles.

1 Military IR Jammer

the big difference.
100 shield / 30 recharge
50 armor / 10 recharge
400 fuel
900 Accel
550 Speed
90 Manvr.

Nah, even a Shuttle Version B comes with 4 IR Missiles. A Anaconda (heavier version of regular Viper) comes with 6. Since its a uber Fed Viper, give it 12. With 100 shields and 50 armor, its as strong as a Manta. Really strong for a Viper, that is! With 550 speed, it would be as fast too. Oh, and with 30 shield recharge it would regenerate as fast as a Azdara.

Umm... that's shield points per 1000 frames. 54 points per minute, approx.

550 shield points would take about 10 minutes to recharge. Seems slow to me if anything.

Hey, what about that bug where the Fed patrol boat sometimes comes with three turrets, but if you sell them off, you can only buy two?

Anaconda has a IR rack on each wing, so 6. Shuttle Version B is well... a B, not a base ship. I would think this Viper has a belly rack, so about 3, mabe even just 2.
30 shield recharge is 5 more then regular, this is not the EVO engine, a Manticore has 40 recharge. Kestrel has 100. For EVN to do a Azdara, it needs to be a recharge of 400.
So even though its faster and more durable, it still has no beam tech. That evens that out a bit.
What I gave was just the base model, and a Viper was not originaly made to carry missiles, thats the Anacondas role. If you want like 15 IRs on it, then Bureau needs itself a modified Anaconda I think.

True with the limits on missiles. I'm just thinking of what the player's going to do with it as soon as they buy it. Since IRs, Radars, and RRs don't take up space, they'll buy everything they can.

And AAC, I'm game for the Bureau Anaconda -- just enRLE'd the three I've got. Thanks for the sprites.

Finally, what about Scout Ships and Patrol Boats using stolen Polaris tech, i.e. Wraithii and BioRelay Lasers?

Bureau Anaconda, sure, I have wed. off, I may do i then. Bureau Carrier is already half done.... (it has two RAGE gunboat bays other then old Anaconda bays, the two bays in the rear is one Viper and one Anaconda 🙂 )

Wraithii I have no qualms with Fed makeing full use off, specialy after the gli-tech missions, and I think BioRelays would be easy enough to steal.

AAC: Do you have access to the original models for rerendering, or do you make those sprites in Photoshop? Just curious.

As far as I know, he is just very good at Photoshopping. All the models etc. for EV:N are property of ATMOS.

Same goes for Bureau vessels....

Sorry if I'm relating to an older idea, but if the Air Force 1 is armed like that, consider for a moment what type of plane it is... A common passanger plane. Shooting down a passenger plane is against the law most places I've been. So is shooting up Lavaithans(sp?) in nova (for most respectable governments). So it would make sense that the Buearu would use Pegasi, Lavaithans, or other general frieghters, just suped up with all sorts of "undetectable things" and marked as a trader.

Your stories would be more like this: "One day I saw this lavaithan come out of hyperspace, and a pirate decided to get cocky, man alive! I've never seen a lavaithan take out a Pirate carrier and not get scratched before! Although, immediatly after the carrier was gone, my ship went up in flames. Must have been the nearby explosion..."

Good point. Remember that the Prodigal Son was always a civ. vessel (except when it was a fleet :p). Maybe some civ. ships in a Bureau variant?

Well, Bureau civ ships would just look like civ ships.... most of the time. When you press fire, the "weapon open" animation (like the roid miner) would activate and show all these pannels flipping over, and mabe some hull changes, to then show all the guns.

lol. In that case, why not have the whole ship's hull turn inside out and suddenly be bristling with guns? 😛

Ah, yes. The infamous "Q-Ship". Used in World Wars I and II. The idea was to take a nice, slow, bulky freighter, and give it the flag of a neutral country, such as Sweden or Finland. Strip out the guts of the ship, give it biga** engines, and mount a few anti-aircraft guns on the inside, usually 150mm or higher. During the early part of WWII, German AA gun emplacements came under attack by ground forces, and quickly found that an AA gun wreaks havoc on just about anything made out of sheet metal, from tanks to ships. Anyway, when it found a somewhat defenseless convoy, the Q-Ship would sidle up to them, usually claiming to want to hear the news, then run up its actual colors (the German Navy ensign), flip up the hinged side panels, and open fire. Today, a Q-Ship would be more likely to have about four 20mm 'Phalanx' air-defense cannon. Their fire rate is so high that you don't hear the individual explosions, just this incredibly loud buzz. And a big poof from that MiG-29 that was trying to cross your airspace. Another likely weapon would be the Tomahawk cruise missile and the Exocet anti-ship missile (heavily modified, of course, since the Exocet is designed to be fired from a Mirage aircraft). I would probably also strap on a few 5-in deck guns for good measure.

"Quarks it is, then."

I apologise for the double-post, but I felt I needed to add something to the above, and I also felt that it would likely get overlooked if I simply edited my post. For a good example of a Q-Ship-type-vessel being used ingame, look for the Pirate Dumpster in Polycon EV. The sides pop out, revealing decent weaponry, and it promptly lays waste to small ships and unsuspecting freighters. I've been thinking of using modified Pegasi and Leviathans for the Bureau and the mercenary group in the plug I'm working on for a while. Quite an interesting idea, that. Levvy with 250 tons of cargo space. And a whole lot of weapons. That would make a truly frightening weapons platform. As soon as I get my copy of Nova back, I think I'll code that in, and see just what it can do... <sick, twisted, sadistic, Evil Grin>™ I WILL take over the Universe!!! Mwah-hah-hah-hah-haaaaahhh!
