Blinking to get to Bernard takes about 30 tries, on average. (My favorite scene is standing in the creek with the fish jumping over your head.) That will get you into the woods around Bernard, which are completely navigable. Then you have to wait until he comes close enough to the edge of his little clearing to interact with him. Use the X key, it's easier.
I now have two sixth-level spells, including "OMG look at those STATS" and "one shot only".
Baseline stats: str 78, dex 50, vit 29, luck 52... and I did get a ring of gods. Typical damage is ~90 pts/hit, sans additional spells. A bit more than a million xp to go before I get to 24th level, so hit points are still under 250.
Okay, I read the rumor about the fabled axe in a southern cave... found a southern cave shaped like a donut, but no fabled axe. Said cave is 1W 1N from the southern tunnel entrance. Wrong cave? False rumor?

Way to Go, Axe!
Wrong cave. The cave you're looking for is on the east coast. If you get there from the north, you have to go one square west, cross the river, and back one square east. If you want a peek at the terrain, (url="http://"http://www.evula.org/rduck/maps/page7.gif")click here,(/url) and it will show the square with two caves and, right next to it, the cave layout showing the way you have to approach from the south.
BTW, just for giggles sometime, cast Moki and then WoW at the same time. It's a blood-thirsty high, but gives one heck of a hangover. Have a gatestone for your room in the mage tower handy for when the spells wear off, cause you're going to want a nap after all that. You did get a room at the tower, didn't you? If not, do so. The room has a nice gift waiting for you.

The (url="http://"http://www.evula.org/rduck/")Kingdom of Garendall(/url) sectional map is easily printed from gif format pages. Find those areas you missed the first time around. You'll want to explore those hidden areas now made accessible with Spells Expander.

I'd forgotten, but I've already been through the two-part cave 1N 2E from the southern tunnel entrance (square 105). It also occurs to me that I might have found the fabled axe and semi-blindly sold it, since I can't use it!
I was originally referring to the cave by the western beach... square 102.
(edit) Clarification for those who haven't played this far yet... the ring of gods was a drop from one of the giants. ------------------ Yelled at the almost-dead monsters: Hey! Come back here with my experience points!

I just edited above, because I mis-read your post. Sorry about that.
Sorry, about the he/she mix up, I was just not paying attention. Anyway, on with my post: Now all you need is the fabled SoL (Once you get this, you pretty much win the game, really). But RD probably already told you about that (I am WAY too lazy to read all of these posts AND read between the lines). Anyway, that is the next thing. Now I don't think RD mentioned THIS official hint: SoL (oh, just some clarification: best staff in the game for any guy/gal Conjurer) is not lying around in a cave waiting to be found, or hidden under Fayleese's cloak. It takes experimentation and intuition to find (though a lot a experimentation and not much intuition). If you find it, it is well worth it. It can kill sea giants at a nice pace... Not to mention, it one hit kills almost everything else AND boosts your stats to very very very high numbers. Anyway, as for getting a room, besides there being a neat treasure there, it is a free inn. Whenever you go there, just go to sleep and get ALL your life and magic points back!
Wow, I typed a lot. Sorry about that... but at least it was all valuable (hopefully) information.
EDIT: Only one spelling error so far...

Yes, I have a room at the tower. (Check the items I have listed in post #1...)
No SoL yet, nor the third 6th-level spell... but I did get 40,000+ xp in the arena.
Is there some point in character development where seashell powder quits working? I've got around 20 seashells, so I tried one recently -- but never saw any extra xp dialog. But then, I did hop back and forth between a couple of screens. Is that known to kill the seashell effect?

I have never had seashell powder work for me. There was discussion on the board about this a while back (a search of the subject would bring up what others had to say) and I usually just sell the shells. No, my name is not Sally, and I don't sell by the seashore.
Pinged you...wish we had p.msg. capabilities here. I asked about the seashell powder because I have seen it work once... though at this point, I'm not sure which character was using it.
Originally posted by Rubber Ducky: It's a long shot, and might cause a crash or two (but you know about those already) but Blink might work to get that spell which you don't have. If you'd done it the other way it would be easier. (Ah, blessed hindsight.) The reason I say a crash is that underground map dimensions are usually smaller in number than outdoor maps and the co-ordinates picked at random by blink could send you off the map which PoG can't handle.
Actually, I believe I fixed this before SE was released by creating yet another massive routine to check the location and, since I know what all stock areas are sized to, set the max dimensions of the spell accordingly.
Granted, in areas introduced in new plug-ins the spell range will default to 200X200 which may crash in a small map, but everything in trinity/SE ought to work fine(except for the access-blocked problems).

Ahh, yeah. I forgot that I made the credits load the first time you ask about rumors. I'm glad you liked them. I was very pleased with my group of testers and wanted to make sure that they received the credit I felt they deserved.
