Bryce question

Though this is irrelevant to anything dealing with EV, I am trying to create a ship, obviously using Bryce. I downloaded a few textures from the (url="http://"http://www.evula.net/dreamwave/texture_depot.html") Texture Depot(/url) and it says that these textures will work with any 3D program, but I can't figure out how to get them to work in Bryce 5! If I try importing them, Bryce doesn't recognize the .pct format, so I tried changing one to the .mat format, which is what Bryce uses, and although it sees the file, the texture doesn't load, nor does it get added to the "User" section of textures. If anyone uses Bryce, I'd greatly appreciate the help. I apologize for the stupid question, but I quickly skimmed over the tutorial that comes with Bryce, and I found nothing, and I'm quite confused. Let's see if I can explain this is a way that makes sense...

Bryce uses two kind of textures: Procedural and Image. The one you want to use is image, but Bryce assigns procedural by default. In order to change it, you have to go to the materials editor (click on your model and then on the little box with an "M" in it). In the materials editor, on the right, you should see a panel that says texture A. On the top of the panel are two little buttons that are labeled "Procedural" and "Image". Click on the one that says image, then click on the button labeled "Texture Editor" or something similar. Another window should appear that has a bunch of little squares at the bottom and three pictures at the top. Click in one of the little squares and another window will open asking you to chose a file to use as your texture. NOW you can load your .pct files. Your picture will appear in the top left frame after you load it. Click the white circle over the center frame to create your image mask and click on the checkmark. Your image will now be the base texture for your material.

Speaking of which, does anyone know of any good sites for procedural textures? I found a whole bunch a while ago, but not many of them were good for ships.

On the subject of Bryce texures, how do you do decals and blast damage? I can't seem to do it without stretching it over the whole object or distorting it with the mapping mode. And how would I incorporate weathering on a texture using an alpha-channel map like (url="http://"http://dreamwave.evula.net/images/texture_images/BlastRemainsLarge.jpg")this?(/url)
