I want to find a good editor, so I want to know your favorites. I only have a Centris 650, I'll upgrade soon, but I want something that works on it.

Mission Computer, sure it isn't finished but with the Template editor you can still do everything. And its interface is the easiest to use (that I've seen), When Cartographer comes out it will be even better!

ResEdit. The only thing I ever use MissionComputer for is writing descriptions. The way it links descriptions directly to the mission is very handy. Once MC is complete and is "bug free" I'll probably switch to that, but until then...

I'd use MC for Cartographer, and perhaps for mission dëscs, but until it is complete my favorite will remain ResEdit.
I use a combination of MC and ResEdit w/ NovaTools. MC is great, and its linking abilities make it easier to link descriptions, governments, etc with other resources. I use NovaTools when I create anything that MC only has templates for, though, since NovaTools is a far cry better than straight templates.

As far as complete goes, I'm working at it; at the moment I'm focusing on resources like ďntf, where I can with relatively little work produce something that goes way beyond anything NovaTools provides, unlike the complicated ones like oütf and shďp take a lot of work and are already served quite well by NovaTools. I'll get to them eventually, but they're not as high on the list, although I suppose Cartographer does fall into the "major resources" category.
As for the "bug free" angle, are you thinking of any specific bugs? I've had a beta of MissionComputer 2.2 out to the testers for more than a week now, and have yet to receive any bug reports, so I'd be glad to hear of any concerns you have.

Res-Edit + Nova Tools However, when Mission Computer is compleat, i will probably claim that as the best editor.

Back when i thought i could use programming, when i made plugs for EVO (mainly plugs that only added ships, and sometimes weapons), shipwrite was all i needed.....
(Did my commentary seem stupid? i agree... it has no value in this topic whatsoever.... i would delete it, but the "delete" button is too far away....)

Hey David Arthur! I thought of something, though I'm not entirely sure it's leagal... For your editor, couldn't you put the novatools templates in where you have normal templates till you make better ones?

It doesn't seem to actually affect game play or the plug itself. It's just a little unsettling. But I've noticed that when I open a misn made in ResEdit with MC, it occasionally likes to change the reward govt to some bizarre number. I can change it to the right govt, save it, then open in ResEdit and it shows up correctly. I think I've even saved changes to a misn in MC that has had this govt change without correcting the govt ID and it has been OK - can't say for sure about that though.
I mainly use Novatools and EVONE . EVONE isn't complete enough for me yet, once it has more editors , I'll be gradually switching to EVONE, also because in the end it might even have enrle/drele and other apps built-in.
Right now : mainly resedit/novatools.

No, MissionComputer's template-based editor only supports templates. Despite the fact that everyone seems to call them templates, the NovaTools editors are not templates and never have been. They are ResEdit ~editors~, which are significantly more complex, and interact directly with ResEdit, so there's no way MissionComputer could host them. Even if it could, for that matter, they aren't Mac OS X-native (or even PowerPC-native, I believe) code, so there's no way they could be hosted in MissionComputer running natively on Mac OS X or a 68K Mac.

Hmm, sounds a bit strange. I'll have to look into it. Is it in Escape Velocity, EV Override, or EV Nova plug-ins that you've noticed this?

I haven't worked with anything besides Nova so that's the only place I've noticed it. Also, after verifying this, I should clarify that it happens consistantly with the "Change record with govt" field. The Govt ID associated with payment works fine.

Really? When will the next version be released to the public. MC is the best! What a pity it isn't complete. When Cartogropher comes out it will be unequaled... unless EVONE gets some more features like missions or governments though a spob editor would be even better .

Within a few days, if all goes according to plan.

Thanks. I was able to track down some old EVO-related code that hadn't quite been completely excised from the Nova mission editor and remove it. This problem should be solved in version 2.2.

Hey people.
I am one of the Beta Testers for MC. It's looking pretty good, I believe as there were no problems the First Beta of MC turned into the Final Version. But this unfortunatly means that Cartographer probably will not be released with it, the spöb editor is not up and ready. It works a-hell of alot better than b3, mind.
Thanks.

Don't worry - I hope to get you another Cartographer beta in not too long. The galaxy editor is more or less complete, and the s˙st editor is approaching it, so I'll be able to turn my attention to spöb and nëbu soon.
