yellow + blue = ... Blue?

A ship initially yellow in the Polycon TC (ain't too many of those 🙂 ) gets a blue paint job and ends up green.

The majority of ships in the original game are white or gray.

Is the color blending in the TC unavoidable? (in other words, there isn't much I can do to make a yellow ship white and then turn around and make it blue unless the ship originally began as white.)

I'm pretty sure that paint just tints the ship the color of the paint. Which means the paint is gonna do things like turn your yellow ship green, unfortunately.

Just use primer ;). It might work if you use many coats of paint, but then again, it might end up looking like a dark colored blob with no detail. You may just want to play around with it for a while and see if anything works.

Or, prehaps you could just mess with the sprites themselves in photoshop (or similar program)? I've done fun things like turn UE Fighters blue and yellow.

You could have an identical ship, but with a white color. Purchasing the paint would give the player the white ship (but leave all of their outfits, I don't remember the bit offhand, but it is in the Bible), and then give them the proper color outfit. This would make it turn out right.

(edit)The only probelm is that you would need to have a white ship for every colored ship, and the "normal ships would then have to set a contribute field that corresponded to the require field of the paint outfits for each different ship, so as to prevent having a million different paints or giving them the wrong ship.(edit)

Further to Mr. Quintero's suggestion. Colored ships (ie. yellow) could use a white base sprite with a paint job (ie. yellow tint) as standard equipment. Then when a blue paint job was purchased, the ship would actually look blue. As far as I know you can only have one tint applied at a time. I might be wrong.

A cool thing to do is get one of those big blue ships (Osiris Cruisers, IIRC) and paint them red. They end up being 2-colored: Red and Blue. Don't ask me how, but it works.
