I'm trying to make some sounds for Nova. I can get the sounds I want in to quicktime movies without losing any quality but the only way I've been able to figure out to get the sounds from the quicktime movie in to a sound resource is by playing the sound on the external speakers and then recording it right in to the resource through the external mic but it picks up a lot of hiss that way. Does anyone know a more direct way that won't pick up all that background his from using the external mic?

You should search this board for the word "sound" with various other words, such as converter, tool, format, file, editor, etc..
(url="http://"http://www.apple.com/quicktime/upgrade")QuickTime Pro(/url) can export to System 7 Sound files, which is what Nova uses if I recall correctly. (you'll still need ResEdit to copy/paste the files into your plugin)
I believe (url="http://"http://www.spies.com/~franke/SoundApp/")SoundApp(/url) can also export System 7 sound files.
(url="http://"http://www.riccisoft.com/soundeffects/")SoundEffects(/url), which is more of an editor than a converter, can export to the System 7 Sound format aswell.
Additionally, you may want to search google for things akin to 'Mac Sound Converters'.
Hope that helps.
