Who's Got a Project?

Well, there's quite a lot of projects in development lately, anything from an EVMP to editors to TCs to guides to whatever else. I'm getting a bit confused, to tell you the truth, and don't know what the heck to look forward to seeing. Enter this topic. Please post the name of your project, links, what it is about, progress, and anything else you want, and help end mrxak-related confusion today!

I've got two projects, well, really three (but that one is super-classified).

One, is code-named EGC-23.
The other is code-named TR-57.

More information can be found (url="http://"http://www.evula.org/mrxak/EV/N/mbspt/mbspt.html")here(/url), but to tell the truth there isn't much to see in the way of information. There are some screenshots though.

You can discuss these two projects, and speculate on the third, (url="http://"http://forums.evula.com/viewforum.php?f=18")here(/url).

I am working on "The Resurgence", a fairly small Override total conversion. Progress is slow at the moment, held up by the fact that I rarely can be bothered to boot Classic mode to work on it, a lack of time on my part, and a certain person (whose name starts with a "D" and ends with "ivals the Conqueror" :D) who is taking his time with my graphics. 🙂

MadFax7 and I are developing Rift, a gigantic EVN TC. It's going a bit slower than expected because school has been keeping me busy, so it has yet to enter alpha 1 testing. Rift will feature an entirely new universe with a rich, interesting, and complex backstory.
See my sig for the link.

I'm working on Starfleet Adventures, a Star Trek TC for Nova set in the Kirk/Spock era (TOS and the movies up to the Enterprise-B section of "Generations"). My progress log and discussion group are both linked from my sigs (there are some rough screenshots as well, though I've made marked improvement of the graphics since those were made some four-five months ago).

Players will be Starfleet officers, flying missions in what will be as close to the canon Star trek universe as I can create. Ship availability will be mďsn- and ränk-based, while the oütf section will represent resupplying of torpedoes and acquiring officers to enhance your crew (and thereby increasing your ship's capabilities). Mďsn-threads will involve each of the major adversarial races (Klingons, Romulans, Gorn, Tholians, even Cardassians) as well as other classic Trek clichés, while adding enough touches from the TNG/DS9/VOY era and "Enterprise" to give it the right amount of verisimilitude.

I update the log pretty regularly, trying to get an entry in about once a week, depending on how much I've done. However, the short version is: I'm 90% complete with the shäns and spďns, 100% of the gövts and spöbs, and am in the process of creating the map for the s˙sts (based on the new Star Charts book and extensive research from the Okuda Chronology and Encyclopedias ), and where I cannot adhere strictly to canon, I'm shooting for extrapolation that retains the feel of Star Trek Classic (for example, we've never actually seen a Gorn ship so my designs were inspired by those from the game Starfleet Command, , and since the Orion pirate ship from "Journey to Babel" was just a lens flare effect, I've made a ship inspired by that "look." Some of the Klingon systems are taken from the unpublished Last Unicorn Games RPG supplement). I've also got most of the shďp, wëap and oütf resources done. Mostly what I'm lacking right now are all the written dëscs, the landing graphics, the large ship pics, and actually writing the mďsns.

Oh, and the nëbu resources. I haven't done those yet.

But it's coming along nicely.

I happen to be working on (url="http://"http://www.evula.org/monster/Plugins/c.html")Caribbean(/url) and Magrathea (a planet yard, see my topic - located somewhere).

Progress report for Caribbean is: it took a brief hiatus due to moving out of my old house, but I'm happy to say I've moved into the new house, and work should start on... today, if I remember to. (busy busy busy!)

Myself, Meaker VI, Azdara, Willis, Homewear and anybody else wishing to join are working on a huge expansion to Nova, called the New Era. It's a little in the development stages yet, but it should be finished. I am determined to not let this one go bye-bye. I should have a forum in the homepage,(see sig) soon.

Progress(summary): I have composed two governments about 10 new systems with new planets, two new ships (with the possibility of more), and 8 new missions so far. I have ideas for at least 8 more main plotline missions and some offshoots.

The New Axiom is an all inclusive plugin. However, I am toying with the idea of following it up with a TC of some sort in the future. You see, the storyline ends at a perfect place for a new beginning...

Working on a few simple string extentions - no TC's.

One's called "Ronin" that continues the Bounty Hunter string into it's own complete storyline. This one is closest to completion. Another one puts you in the role of a "James Bond" type spy working for the Federation but against the Bureau. And lastly I've just started developing some ideas for a minor string that involves technology wars between Pyrogenesis and GLi-Tech. All are progressing at a fairly steady pace. Ronin should be ready for Beta testing before the end of the year.

Man, if I didn't have to work 40+ hours a week...

I used to jog but the ice kept falling out of my glass.

I'm working on version 2.0 of MissionComputer (the current version is available from (url="http://"http://davidarthur.evula.net/")davidarthur.evula.net(/url)). While it adds a few new editors, the main focus is support for EV Nova in all the editors. My current plan is for it to be free like the current version, and depending on my timetable I may be putting out a call for beta testers as early as this weekend.

It's been a while since I've posted anything about MissionComputer 2.0 on these boards, but over on the (url="http://"http://www.ev-nova.net/")EV-Nova.net(/url) forums I posted a (url="http://"http://www.ev-nova.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=778")progress update(/url) a few days ago, and there's also (url="http://"http://www.ev-nova.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=581")some screenshots(/url) of some of the new features.

Although I haven't really done much work on it in recent months, I have been working on Esape Velocity Omega, a TC for EVO (and possibly EVN). It is roughly 40% completed at it's current stage of version d29. I expect a completion date of late next year, into early 2004.

I have two beta testers currently testing the current version of the plug, and initial reports are good. Hopefully once I get my Power Mac 7500/G3 upgraded with OS 9.1, I will be back in buisness for development. (Currently having problems with installed OS 8.6)

Star Wars:Nova(Working Title)

Developers:Admiral Benden(Programming), Denb(Ship graphic stuff), and BluePlanet(Planet graphic stuff)

Status:In development. Denb is on a vacation right now, but should be back before the end of the month. I'm kinda just taking potshots at the plug, hoping that an editor for OSX will come out soon(it really is a hassle to have to start Classic every time I want to work on the plug). Hopefully, work should resume at full pace once the new year begins.

Discussion:We had almost 2000 posts worth of stuff on the Nova Board, but things have quieted down and we've moved over to the Mac Undergroud on EVula's Lair. Visit us some time.

I'm working on a few things at the moment (which is probably not to wise, but anyway).

My main project is a TC plugin based in the Night's Dawn trilogy by Peter F. Hamilton. You can check out the website (url="http://"http://www.geocities.com/newkongindustries/nightsdawn")here(/url). Unfortunately, I've hit a bit of a snag, and I'm going to have to re-design part of my map. But it's coming along quite nicely.

I'm also working on the Map Yards (which was talked about (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/webboard/Forum9/HTML/003560.html")here(/url)). There is only one map up at the moment, but that should change once I get the Night's Dawn map finished.

I had a brain wave yesterday about a plugin which added a number of minor missions to the orignal EV:N storyline. Missions like Cujo Hunting and the Band Transport ones - missions which don't have any effect on the rest of the story but help keep you interested in the game. I wrote one last night (which is quite good if you ask me!), and I'm hoping to add a few more over the weekend.

You can check out all my EV:N ideas at http:.//www.geocities.com/newkongindustries

Please let me know what you think!

I'm overambitious. 😛

(title: highly-abbreviated blurb)

- (untitled): Combat arena centeric universe with entwined plot. Stylistic inspiration being taken from Descent 3.

- The Storm: A terrible storm churns around the entire Earth. When it clears, only 1/5 (ratio might be changing) of the population remains. Each section was split into its own parallel universe, taking their own course through history, until it's found that they're all connected through one point...

- Origins: Um...it's a bit too complex to summarize.

- (untitled): Space-combat-esque underwater universe. Any of you remember the ST:Voyager episode with the spacebourne water blob? Kind of like that in the "water" concept. Still in conceptual development.

I think I'm proclaiming the rest of my older ideas "dead".

Presenting CMSV-X Productions! Our work is fantastic and we may have something for Nova. "Coming in 2003"

------------------

I'm working on a rather workhorse-style plugin with no current title.

It'll focus on new options for asteroid mining, including surveying for finds, working claims, and establishing new spöbs as full mining operations.

Also a scout ship and new sensor oütfs.

My goal is to provide a dense backdrop of perhaps 'less dramatic' plots to flesh out the body of the game. Maybe archaeological discoveries, scientific advances, transport and career of opera stars... that sort of thing.

Unfortunately, I'm a fulltime freelance writer, so I'm finding it increasingly hard to justify time spent for no money. Trying to argue to myself 'well, it could be computer game resume fodder.'

Gah!

All these people, working away like little monkeys... It's enough to make one exceptionally jealous. Or admiring. Or angry with self. One of the three.

Anyway, despite various life obstacles, my project (Which Eagle-Eyed and Photgraphic-Memoried usuals here may remember) is still... Well...

Breathing. That's the best I can describe for at the moment. War Of The Worlds, as it is tenatively called, (only a vague similarity to he HG Wells novel of the same name) is sitting on my desktop, looking spitefully at me. Occasionally, I work on it, when I can muster up the courage to go under it's withering glare.

Summary: War Of The Worlds is set about a couple hundred years into the future, during which time mankind has spread out into the solar system (Well, basically just Mars... Or is it? ;)), had a massive civil war that resulted in the throwing of both the Martian and Earth setllements back into what is effectively the Stone Age. Both cultures managed to claw it's way back into space... And now they're about to meet each other. It's Party Time. 😄

Basically, the map for the scenario is small (I was aiming for "Small TC", but I am unsure at this moment as to whether such a thing exists). You are a noble born pilot for the Empire Of Earth, and as such you need not to pay for such things as ammo, missiles, etc.

Of course, the Empire is repressive and evil.... but so is the other side. And neither of them know that the other's planet has been ruined by the other's rapicious appetites... There are no heroes(not even yourself), no greater goods. In other words, remarkably similar to our world.

No links, unfortunately. I have trouble keeping up work on just the plugin. 🙂

Oh, yes, and I'm working also on the (Sleeping) EV Wing Commander project. But it's got a nice stream of Rhohpnol until further notice, apparently. 🙂
