I am working on a TC for Nova, I have just done some stuff with graphics (finding programs and the like (thanks guys who replied to my last post)). i have most of it finished (missions not quite finished) but I have no sound or music. if anyone can help me get through this last hurdle of the develpoment it would be much appreciated. i need someone to make title music and weapon sounds. Contact me at Starbridge42@hotmail.com
Making them is quite hard.... most people take them from other games, mp3s, or online databases.

Like Neon Soldier said, stealing them from other games is a quick way to get some. Use resedit and go through your games folder and open all your games. I found alot of great sounds this way. Also, the sounds in old versions of EV sound original again (at least to my ears) when you put them into Nova, since I, and a lot of people, haven't heard them in ages.

Even the pros use a handful of library sounds to pad out their projects -- much tweaked, of course. There are freeware and shareware aps that allow you to change pitch, add reverb, filter, flange, and otherwise make a sound fresh. And there are CD libraries, many of them (like the BBC collection) found at the brick library downtown. Most of these are public domain.
There are music libraries as well; designed for commercials and provided with a buy-out fee. In my opinion the classics stand up better, though. How about a little Wagner, or perhaps Miklos Rotza? These are not, however, free. Even the work of a dead composer becomes protected by mechanicals when recorded.
Last thought. There are several composers on this board. I'm surprised no-one else has jumped on it already. The tough part about Nova is the length. Whereas in EVO you needed only thirty seconds that could stand up to 22 khtz, for Nova you are talking at least two minutes and as much as ten in full 44 (albiet compressed into mp3). The pros spend eight hours for each minute of completed music, and we ain't pros yet. It's a lot of hours, and not lightly undertaken.
I'm already signed for a different Nova overture or I'd look at it myself. Come to think of it, I think I sent an email earlier. Well, post some screenshots, the splash graphic, and maybe someone will be inspired!
