Date Holdoffs

I could have sworn I'd seen a way to do it before, but if I did, I can't find it again.

Is there a way to do date adjustments? For realism in my plug, you are supposed to start at one date, go through a series of space folds, and come out 5 years later. I thought there was an easy way to do this with either NCB's or Crons, but I don't think so anymore.

My current idea is to give the player an outfit for that jump sequence that modifies the jump speed by several thousand days, and take it away before the player can jump again. The only problem is that for that particular part of the mission string, the player's ship doesn't have enough fuel to jump on its own. All jumps are facilitated by capital ships that work like hypergates or Persons that offer missions that teleport you. Neither of these, I believe, increments the date. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Anybody have any suggestions/improvements?

The mďsn resource's DatePostInc field, which adds a certain number of days to the current date after the mission completes, is the only way to alter the date once the game has started. This may be what you were thinking of.

If it hasn't been said before, you da man, david arthur, you da man. That's exactly the field I had in mind. I guess after you look at Nova Tools for so long, all the fields start to blend together...
