I have finished up some ships for my own plugin and I had a question...
I wanted to submit one of them for the SWB plugin but am concerned that the ship will start showing up in other plugs before mine is even ready to come out. Perhaps I am being overly protective. In general, is this an issue that I need be concerned with? Your comments are appreciated.

That's the problem that I faced. I have lots of ship sprites laying about, but they're all for a different plug. Not wanting to ruin the surprise of seeing the coolness of them in that plug, I wasn't going to submit anything until UncleTwitchy decided that he wanted to submit klingon ships. As for you, if you submit it to a public plugin, there's really nothing that you can do to prevent others from using it, other than just ask them not to use it until after your plug comes out. What you could do is reduce the quality of the SWB sprite, and save the good quality sprite for your plug.

Thanks for your thoughts. I'll ponder this for awhile. Perhaps I should just create a new ship. I enjoy doing that anyway. There is no real time crunch at this point is there? Last I heard discussed was to release the SWB plug before the end of the year...Is that still the timeline?
I'd agree with Matrix here. I think that instead of a Gundam, I'll make it a GM. They're close enough anyways... But if you are making a plugin with a lot of graphics, like a TC, I wouldn't be as worried about it. On the other hand, if you are making a small plug that adds just like two ships, I'd use a low quality or oddly colored version. /me submits hot pink colored Gundam...

You can either e-mail me the graphics and a text file with your preferred descriptions and stats (very important), or you could go a step further (and take a load off me) by putting them into ResEdit files and sending those. It's your choice, but I'd prefer the latter.

Okay, okay, like everyone expected, I folded like a cheap umbrella. I don't have enough ships to release the plug by the 31st. Everyone who said they couldn't make it by the 20th has another chance. See what you can come up with.
Ahh, good, when I saw you posted here, I thought it was already over... I was afraid I wouldn't be able to complete Gundam of yet, the model is done, and the pose is good, but I cannot get my beam saber idea to work. :frown: I was trying to force the engine to "animate" the weapon. It didn't like it. I tried to make several weapons as submunitions, but the it looked like s*** if you weren't moving EXACTLY the same speed as the beam saber. :? I also tried using a fighter, which DO have animations, but that didn't work too well either. So it looks like I'll have to submit it with the cheap looking beam saber from in my movie I posted eons ago.
Well, back to Ships of the Webboard, could you list which contribute/require fields you have used, since you really shouldn't have a beam saber with your heavy shuttle, and likewise you shouldn't have CPL's on a mobile suit.

Is it a weapon? If you just want it holding a glowing sword thingy, make a ship glow. If it's a beam weapon, I would give the "ship" a weapon animation of an arm down or something and have the beam extend from that (have it use the weapon anim for the ship it's on... I think it's a flag) Unless you already tried this, I would give it a shot.

Or even better, use the "unfolds to fire" to extend the arm, and just have a regular beam come out of the extended location -- but that's really not what this thread's about.
Hey Neon Soldier, thanks for changing the date. My Enterprise is really giving me headaches (when trying to make sprites), but now I'll have a bit of time to work (and render) it out.

Ok...I just need to get/make/decide upon a scenic pic for my entry and do a bit more testing/balancing of the ship in-game.
