Well, I have been plugging along for the last few days, wandering the land and visiting the areas I can survive in. I have the harp and journeyed all the way to Berglum.
My challenge is that it takes so long to save up gold to be able to buy a decent weapon off the swordguild. Right now I am still using the dagge of elfin and am trying to save up for one of the 2-4000 dollar swords from the guild. Other than menah's gloves, the rest of my equipment is basic leather armor type of stuff. I have been going to the "general's cave" the last bit to kill the first screen foes and gather gold. I can last quite awhile there without burning up too many potions, which cost bucks to replenish. Seems to be the best bet right now, unless there are other areas to gather up the gold. I don't survive too well in the "spider cave" yet.
I am at 110 life and level 14. Strength is at 18 and dexterity at a measely 13! I miss quite a bit. Any advice would be appreciated. Oh, I am playing a swordsman with both plug-ins loaded.

What do you mean by both plugs? There are more than two out y'know. The best plug archive there is can be found here: (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/games/pog/addons.html")http://www.ambrosias...pog/addons.html(/url) And what's your question? There doesn't seem to be one on your post. My best guess is that your asking for ways to increase your goldpile. If that's the case I think the best way is to just train and increase your gold the standard way.
If you find that too dull you could use the Gold plug. (Obvious choice) I haven't use it due to Windows... erm... technicalities, but if it works as it should you get 1000 gold every time you hit the ( key.
If you use the Titania plug a new guy will show up. Talk to him and he'll give you very very cheap armor, weapons, and a nifty little thing which has no use but to sell. It goes for 15,000. (I think, mighta' been 10000)
Anyways, welcome to the boards Ranger14!

There's a plugin called Bankers Guild, which give you a 50 percent increase in your deposited gold each time you gain a level. There are bankers in Fantrima, Dernath, and Berglum (sp? to all) near the wells. I almost mentioned that but if he were looking for a way to make money he could make a lot of it the standard way, but since if he did he wouldn't have asked how to make money, I was assuming he was looking for a faster way. And the banker plug only increases your funds if you level a lot.
Thanks for the responses. Didn't realize there were so many plugins. I have the Trinity and Spell plugins loaded. I don't want to go too extreme with the playing out of the natural course of the game. I will check out the plugins you mentioned.
Basically it sounds like I just need to keep doing what I am doing so I can go purchase a nicer sword at the guild. Sorry I didn't have a specific question per se'. Just wondering if the guild is the best bet for purchasing a decent weapon for now and if there was a specific sword that you experienced players recommend for a low level character; Thanks!

Welcome!
You mention that you've been entering the Ghost Swamp where the General is located; have you rescued the General? Ie, were you able to defeat the Death Knight?
If so then I would recommend that you head over to Dernath and complete the mission in the Spells Expander plug-in by helping out Fayleese. Do the mission for your guild in conjunction with Fayleese and pick up the sword "Courage." This ought to give you a hand and I think you'll enjoy some of its benefits...

I'm surprised that no one yet has mentioned the Dwarven Runic Sword which is the best weapon in the standard PoG game. To get this item, you go four screens north of Gwyden Camp, meet a traveling supply agent, tell him you can't give him directions, insult his wares, and he then challenges you to a duel to prove his sword's worth. If you win, he gives you the sword. You just saved 4000 gold. ~RD

Well, right now I go to the lower level of the Ghost Swamp cave and get my butt handed to me on a silver platter by the normal monsters there! That's why I figured I need a better damage sword to help out. I headed towards the old dwarf a day or two ago and the adversaries were giving me a tough battle, but maybe it will be better now that I leveled some. I will give that another go and try it out. I want to do as much as possible without using any "extra help" plug-ins.
Thanks for the advice you guys!
Edit: I finally got to the trader and after using all 6 healing potions I had and running around I took him out with 5 life points left and earned the dwarven runic sword! It was a pain getting back to the Gwyden Camp with that little life left and no transport stones, but I made it! Seems as though the sword will make battles easier, but I was surprised at the damage level it does for the best sword in the game. Guess I have played too much Diablo II and use to higher end damage. Now to purchase some decent armor and I am off to do tougher battles!
Thanks again for the help!

Congratulations! Keep in mind that when your strength gets over 15, the extra points are directly added to the damage force for each successful blow. It's the strength more than the weapon which will let you best increasingly stronger foes. And, your welcome. Good luck with your game. ~RD

Yes, but the Dwarven Runic Sword doesn't have the cool random bonuses that Courage does, nor does it have its own theme sound...

Hey Stark, I took out the band of thieves in the well after running around in cirlcles and putting down some potions and they left some nice items like the quicksilver ring, but when I met the guy back down in the lab he gave me a bag of 5,000 gold, as opposed to the Sword of Courage. I was somewhat surprised. Did I do something wrong?

I seem to recall that you should talk to the LoreMaster in the Swordsman's Guild then go back to Dernath.
Yes, I chatted with the ol' loremaster and went back and got the tome of warfare. The loremaster is giving me the option of the sword, the necklace or tome of moki. I can't back out of it either unless I want to go back to my last save. Guess I will search the boards to see which item will serve me best. Don't know if I forfeit the other two items or have a chance of getting them another way. Sounds like I should be set with the Dwarven Runic sword, so I am leaning toward the necklace. Must find out more about Moki, but I will search for that.
Thanks once again!
Edit: Well, forget the book. Just found out a swordsman can't use it!
I would advise against the necklace as it replenishes life very slowly, and will not work properly with plugins that add new locations (i.e. my plugin, currently under production). I have heard good things about courage (never tried, as I am a conjurer), so I'd stick with that.

I choose the Courage Sword, so I heeded your advice before you gave it. It looks to be a nice sword, once I get my strenth doubled. Heheh, that time will come. Guess I can switch back and forth between sword/shield and 2 handed sword at that time.
