I just wanted to introduce a plugin that I am developing for ev:nova. It's called (url="http://"http://www.polytone.net/new_axiom")the new axiom (/url). I am in the process of developing ships. Below is my newest: the Praetorian Cruiser. I have already incorporated a new government, written half the missions, new systems and planets, and more. Thanks for the encouragement and for fixing my post! I'm pretty new to all of this so I'm trying to take it all at a moderate pace so I don't get overwhelmed. That's the second ship I've created and I'm pretty proud of it.
The plug is really starting to come together. I hope it will be a good example of what I can do so that I can organize a team for a bigger project in the near future. We'll see. Thanks for your responses.
Tell me, how much information is appropriate to give out about the nature of a plugin without losing some element of surprise? I want to get people interested enough to keep checking the site and getting involved in the forum, but at the same time I don't want to give anything away...any suggestions?

Don't give too much information, and try not to show any of the really good graphics. What you have on your site is fine, but I think that later down the line you should continue to upload new piccies, say, once every 2 weeks. this'll keep people thinking about it.

I don't quite follow what you mean. I shouldn't make a TC because why?
A TC is just like downloading Nova all over again, what with all the graphics, storylines, and other assorted stuff. Correct me if I'm wrong, but most TC's graphics files are about 10 meg, and there are 3 of them (normally)? On a 56k modem that is HELL. Make it a plug-in, alot of people will get it, no matter what modem they've got. Make it a TC, and I for one certainly won't be getting it, no matter how good it is. There. Love the pic, though.

Ignore no_use_for_a_name. TCs are what makes the Escape Velocity series the great game that it is. Even when I had a 56k modem, I still downloaded all the hugh TCs for EVO, and if I still had a 56k modem, I would still put the time in to download it.
Besides, alot of TCs are plugins, I think your confusing the term TC with Nova File.

Hey! I have other things (as most people do) to do than wait for ages for a 10 meg file. Polycon graphics are 10 meg. But that is BIG. Please don't ignore me. Please. I may JUST download, if I've got some time, and I agree TC's and plugs are the best thing about EV series. I'm making a medium-large one now.
Regardless, at this point the new axiom is simply a plugin that has an option of exploring an entirely new scenario upon the completion of the story line. If I get far enough to create a TC I will have to get help. At this point I am concentrating more on getting the plug written for the Nova scenario. What follows...even I'll just have to wait and see. Thank you all for your input. I understand the issues with downloading. But I also think to make the player feel like they are having a new experience in a TC, the larger files and longer downloads are just the nature of the beast. Everyone has the same access to the files. It's just a matter of whether you feel that It is worth taking the time to download them.

no_use_for_a_name, you're too impatient. I remember downloading the system updates for 7.5.x , about 20 megs of material, on a 28.8. And remember that not all of us are cursed with a slow connection. Having a TC means that I spend even more of my time on EV:N, be it good or bad, and get to experience someone elses idea of a universe.
As for your idea polystatic, it looks cool. Feel free to take your time and do it right.

For those of you interested in my response to this see the new era post. On a side note, the New Axiom is getting close to completion. I feel really good about the progress I've been making. I hope to have a beta test out by mid-dec, so that the plug can be released by the beginning of the new year (if all goes well). I have posted a beta tester sign-up list that's linked from the (url="http://"http://www.polytone.net/new_axiom")new axiom(/url) site. If you have experience making and/or debugging plugins please check it out. If you just want an advance copy of the plug, please just wait. There's nothing worse than a buggy version of any plug.
