Wheeee!
And with the debute of Plum Pie Software, Mantaray announces NovaCalc, available in Classic and Carbon flavors. Go crazy!
The Mac OS X version isn't up yet, but you can download the Mac OS 8.6 - 9.x version here: (url="http://"http://www.evula.org/monster/dl/NovaCalc_Classic.sit.hqx")http://www.evula.org...Classic.sit.hqx(/url)
Made, obviously, in REALbasic. And what's wrong with that?
Edit: Hard to spot, these img typos...

Looking very good. Do you have any idea when the OS X version will be up??

Well, you see, I'm not sure it runs super cool on Mac OS X, because all I did was click a checkbox in RB to make it compile to both OSs... I need somebody to test it for me. You can, if ya want.
but the main reason it's not up yet was because it's 1 mb, and I've got the slowest 56 k connection ever. ( 2 k/second, usually. )
Edit: Okay, I'm uploading it now... it'll take a while. check the following link in, say, 5 minutes: (url="http://"http://www.evula.org/monster/dl/NovaCalc_X.sit.hqx")http://www.evula.org...aCalc_X.sit.hqx(/url)
Get a copy and save!
Sure thing. I'm going to have dinner now, so I'll download it after, try it out and give you an email or something.
Very Cool. As soon as I get home from work I'll try out the OSX version. Is this a precursor to ResourceHunter? Because the screenshots look very familiar. (url="http://"http://www.evula.org/monster/Images/rh_shot_1.jpg")http://www.evula.org...s/rh_shot_1.jpg(/url)

Yes. I figured the demand for the calculator was high enough for it to be released on it's own. Plus ResourceHunter was meant to be the Nova Bible in chapter form.
NovaCalc uses the same calculator code.
Neato... It seems to run just fine in OS X but it always seems to quit unexpectedly when I select close it. One other thing, you seem to have forgotten to calculate Hire Dësc.

OK, I had dinner (very nice chicken stir-fry), and I just sat down to test it out.
It's working great, and best of all, its shiny and bright in Aqua :D.
My only qualm, is that for calculating mďsns, it seems to use a different system than the EV Nova files. That is, say I punch in 128 into the ID box and I go to misn, what it tells me is different than what is actually used in EVN. This can become annoying unless you are doing a TC, in which you don't have to worry about replacing descs.

Yeah, the mďsn dëscs are way out of whack. It looks like it just chose random numbers and threw them into the mix.

Hmmm, that needs fixing. I used Blackdog's res ID text doc thingy... email me the ones that look wrong and I'll check them. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Edit: Okay, I checked. All the mďsn IDs are wrong except the second one  I'll fix this up in no time, don't worry. Dunno about all the others, I'll check. Yeesh, how stupid can I get? Lemme see...
700th post! w00t!
Cool. I've been waiting for this for ages. I hate figuring them out. Thanks.
Pity I don't need it any more :frown:

Hehehe...
/me points to his post count...
Neato, this should save a lot of time I currently spend looking at ID reference guides and searching for my calculator.

Oh poo on you. 100 posts in a month aint that bad, ya know.
btw, the new version is DONE! woot! All I need to do is upload it. I looked, it turns out there was no pettern to what resIDs you used for most of the missions. You just need to fill in the forms in the mďsn editor. So the mission ID part has two forms and a text blurb to fill up the space.
Just struggling with getting the calculator up, because the cable modem is connected to the wrong computer for th job. Poopy.
Yay! The new version is up. The same links should work. Here they are again: (url="http://"http://www.evula.org/monster/dl/NovaCalc_Classic.sit.hqx")Classic(/url) (url="http://"http://www.evula.org/monster/dl/NovaCalc_X.sit.hqx")Carbon(/url)
I bumped the button up a couple of pixels. It was driving me crazy.

Use Nova's numbering scheme. I know there are no set IDs, but it would be best to still include it with ATMOS's numbering scheme as this is the way most people are going to try to number their misn descs (I am on a PC and can't use umlauts).

You can. For 'ë' hold down Alt while typing on the numerical keypad (with Num Lock engaged) 0235. For ď, its 0239.

The problem with that is that PC umlauts don't display correctly on a Mac, and Mac umlauts don't display correctly on a PC. They use different character setups.
------------------ Why are you all looking at me like that?
This is exactly why I hate PCs. Also, Mac umlauts and PC umlauts are the same. Your font may be screwed up.
Gotcha. Fix mďsn things.
Anybody else got any suggestions? Like if I should include more resources?
