All EVO Përs Initiated on New Pilot File?

I at least know that in the përs field that mission bits makes përs active. I also know that adding a new one leaving the mission bit at -1, with a pilot already created, it won't show up unless you create a new pilot.

What am I getting at? I am beginning to doubt that mission bits are not working as they should be, why? Well, as I am writing my expansion scenario, I am adding përs to them. Obviously putting in the mission bits so they will be active. Problem is, that they won't show up after completing certain missions.

I use Pilot File Editor 3.0, so I can see how my plug in progresses. At a hunch, I started a fresh pilot. I analyzed it with the PFE and found out that ALL PËRS are activated!

So will this mean that all përs that I add for an expansion will never show up ever regardless of mission bits?

Keep in mind this plugin is an expansion one meaning that you would of have to have a pilot file already with certain missions you would have already done.

C'mon people, I need to know. Is the question hard to understand? If so, let me get down to this.

Will expansion përs ship only show up if you create a new pilot file?

Yes. The engine assumes that all përses not loaded when the pilot file was created are dead. That information is stored in the pilot file. When it loads new përses, it checks with the pilot file and sees that they are dead, and doesn't have them show up.

Put all the përs into the original plug. Then give them a visbit so they don't show up until the expansion comes along. If that doesn't work out for you, editing the data files themselves to have a bunch of "empty përses" that won't show up at all will solve your problem. Have the expansion alter those to make them show up as the type you want.

I once made a plug-in that did this, but it wasn't really very useful since it didn't work after you'd started a pilot file. I suppose I could re-release it again, but what really should've been done was the data files should've had all the pers's put in (128-whatever) to begin with, and all plug-in developers should've filled up all the pers slots too.

But yeah, mrxak is right, listen to what he said.

If you mean replacing some of the original përs ships of the original slots, okay then, I will give it a try.

Oh and by the way, I am about to have a website called DryDock Station up sometime at (url="http://"http://www.evula.org")www.evula.org(/url). I wonder why EVula hasn't respond to my emails? He has yet to add the description of my site in the navigational table.

I've tried e-mailing him recently, and this was what happened:

Well, not exactly what I meant. If you have a two seperate plugs, one the original plug and one the expansion, and the expansion actually is to be used by itself without the other piece used with it, then feel free to reuse përs IDs that you are certain to still have available to the pilot in a neutral way. By this I mean any përs that does not hold a grudge, and one that has an escape pod, or whose government did not need an escape pod to reincarnate. Those are the only ones certain to work in any case needed.

However, if your expansion still requires the original in the plug-ins folder at the same time, then the above trick will not work. You have to either use a data file instead of a plug-in for the original, and fill up all of that data file's përs IDs possible with përses that will not be visible to the player via a visbit. Then, simply use all the përses you want through your expansion plug.
