Hi, suppose I want to make a TC , then I should replace all the nova resources using sveral plugins ,right? And what should I do If I don't override all the nova resources?
And : How do you edit the soun ds in nova and how do you add your own?

If you're going to do a total TC, it might be better (and possibly easier) to just replace the entire Nova Data folder. Resources getting loaded just to be replaced by more resources getting loaded can increase the startup time for Nova.

In a pinch, you could re-hash EVN's default ships; this might get some criticism from users, calling you "cheap" and "lame", but then again, a kick-ass storyline would shut most of them up.

Or you could use Nova's graphics as a temporary solution, like place holders. So you could be working on your plug while finding someone to do your graphics for you or learning yourself.
I'm in a similar situation. I have a TC that I've given up twice on because I keep getting frustrated - not being able to get the ships the way I want them, and I'm about ready to give it another go :). Perfect timing too with college about to start :rolleyes:.

sure, after all the work I've already put into it. You give up? well, glad it was now and not a week from now. so I guess the Star Trek: nova idea is empty again.

I was actually talking about a different TC I had, but as for the Star Trek TC, I'd love to do it, but my biggest problem is the graphics. Its one thing to design your own ships, but trying to model ships that already exist and making them look right is another story!
...wasn't there a guy doing the graphics for the STEV project? I forget his name, but he did some great work on the EVO version of the plug, I'm not sure if he ever got them transfered to Nova though.
And isn't there someone going to make a map from some offical Star Trek book or something?
There are also two other teams working on ST plugs for Nova, but one of this is from the Original series (which I'm not really a fan of, too corny) and one is called the New Frontier, which I'm not quite sure, but I believe is a books series. Correct me if I'm wrong.
If I did a ST plug, I'd want it to have to do with the Dominio War, like the STEV project, but I definitely perfer ST: Nova as the name :).
New Frontier-- I'm the graphic artist for that, and the guy who started this projects is the leader.... thus its over, we didnt even have a storyline, I had just started the graphic works
Just a thought. I run the vanilla EVN with the debuglog.txt. You should see the memory requirements for just that. You may want to watch just how many unique PICTs you use in the TC. I think there's a darn good reason why so many ships use basically the same PICT in EVN and rely on a string resource to provide a unique label so we can tell the difference. I've noticed spobs use the same PICT resource sometimes too.

All you need to do (to do special characters in Windoze) is find the ASCII code for the character. Then you do something like alt+ASCII# and you get it. It's annoying.

That was me on both counts, and I'm trying to do my plug in such a way that it will be possible for someone to come along and do later-era expansions -- so that, for instance, you can do your Dominion War.
