You know, I've been plying the EV series for quite some time now and I want to make my own plug with new graphics and the lot...but I just have no clue how to make ships.
Do you think some1 would be kind enough to make some kind of tutoriala step-by-step instruction manual that takes you through making a ship?

Do you mean in a 3D modeler program or how to add it to nova?

There is a tutorial on how to make your own ships using Mechanisto on (url="http://"http://www.squibix.net/mech-ev/")Squibix's site(/url). It helped me in making my first few ships. If your going for anything Nova related, go with Lightwave or Infini-D. The quality of output is much higher.

Yeah--I've seen that tutorial before.....but I got really confused...plus I want to make graphics for EV:Nova.
First you are going to need to get a 3D app, the tutorials on Squibix's page are for Mechanisto, which I think is very difficult to learn. So you'll probably want to find a copy of Maya, Lightwave, Cinema 4D (XL), Infini-D, or Strata 3D, those are just the ones I can remember. The first three can be bought new but are pretty expensive, you can sometimes find infini-D on ebay, and Strata 3D used to be a free download but I'm not sure if you can get it any more. All of them are different, so once you do have one you'll need a tutorial for that specific app. Another good thing to have is Photoshop. You'll also need is lots of practice, you won't get nova quality graphics putting the same amount of time into it that I do Hope that wasn't to confusing, as I'm a little tired.

That's great--I'll look into getting those app's....but what I am REALLY asking for is a step-by-step manual on constructing a ship. And I mean every step. I figure if I can follow the steps over and over again, I can soon find ways of altering it slitely then make my own graphics.
You only need one of the 3D apps (more wouldn't hurt though), and Photoshop. And since Photoshop costs $609, you might want to start of with Graphic Converter (don't have a link right now) or something similar and much less expensive (unless you already have Photoshop, I'm just assuming you don't). Now there's no one way to make a ship, they're all different, the best thing to do is learn how to use your 3D apps tools and go from there, using them to create the peices of your model. It also helps to draw what you want to make on paper first, even if it's just a very rough sketch.

Uh.... It all depends on the graphics program that you decide to use. If you use Lightwave, the instructions will be quite different than the instructions you'd use for Strata, which would be quite different than the instructions you'd use for POVRay.
However, if you only have Photoshop, and only know how to crop, you might just simply want to try to recruit a graphics artist.
